Balthazar’s POV
I looked out at the land while the driver kept his eyes on the winding road. I was more nervous than I expected. I chose to tell Makarius before Victoria because I was afraid she'd hate me.
The car entered the town where the Tatra pack lived and stopped at the pack house.
I saw Victoria laughing with Pirate, the traitor. I sent him to keep me informed, but he called to say the deal was off.
I stayed in the car, watching her until she disappeared into the forest. Then the driver opened my door, and Alpha Makarius walked over.
"Alpha Balthazar, what a pleasure. Please come in," he said, extending his hand.
"Alpha Makarius, thank you for having me," I said as I shook his hand.
I sat down while he walked around the desk and took his seat, watching me.
