How are Abrax and Raya? I asked Makarius, trying not to cry when I heard his voice. It’s been two weeks, and I miss him so much. I’ve been hiding away in the house my dad gave us in my royal pack.

Tears streamed down my face. Then I heard a knock at the door. I walked over and opened it to see Makarius standing there.
I dropped the phone and hugged him tightly. He let out a deep breath.
"God, I missed you so much," he said, breathing in my scent like he was desperate. Then he kissed me.
"Why are you so stubborn?" he asked. "No more, Victoria. You’re going to listen to me and come home," he said, raising his voice.
"Okay," I whispered.
"What?" He looked surprised that I hadn’t argued. "Great, pack up. The jet is waiting. Wait, is this some trick?"
