I leaned back in the jet seat, and Makarius tossed a blanket over me. I shut my eyes. The eclipse, the sky going dark. The knives glinted in my hands as I charged toward the clearing, yelling his name. Makarius’s hand landed on my shoulder. “Victoria, you’re dreaming again,” he said, brushing a kiss on my forehead. “We’re landing soon.” I forced a smile. The dream felt too vivid, and a cold shiver ran down my spine. I glanced at my trembling hands, feeling the weight of my anxiety. “Okay, I hope I’m not losing it.” The car wound its way up the mountain, twisting along serpentine roads. “Makarius, can I tell you something?” “You know you can tell me anything. Spit it out.” “Something bad’s coming,” I said. “Care to elaborate? Like some omen?” “War,” I answered. “Soon.” He laugh
