THE LUNA'S COMMAND

∆SERAPHINA∆ "You heard him," Kael exhaled through his nose and looked back at me, his gaze calm but filled with some hidden meaning. I crossed my arms with extreme frustration as my patience ran out because of this shameless man. "So I'm supposed to leave my bed in the middle of the night, to tend to your beloved Beta's mysterious illness? What's next? Should I sing her a lullaby too?" Kael raised an eyebrow with a dark chuckle, "If not, do you expect your husband to visit an unmarried woman in middle of the night?" What's wrong with this man? Why is he acting as if he doesn't even know her? She used to be his potential marriage partner before I came into his life, she is his childhood sweetheart, isn't she the reason why he hated me? Now, why all this drama? Is he testing me? Maybe, I shouldn't fall in his trap, "Unmarried woman or married woman, it's not my concern, and you're soon to be my ex-husband, so, I don't need to hold you back, do whatever you want and I'm going back to sleep!" I think this is enough for this shameless man to come back to his senses rather than wasting time here by playing mind games with me. He turned fully to face me, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly, as if he was amused by response, and there were no signs of anger visible in his face. "I'm not your ex-husband yet, still your husband, so, you're coming with me," he said simply, that infuriating tone of command in every word. Then lowering his voice, he made it playful, "I promise, we will finish what we started when we return...." I was stunned by his uncontrollable shamelessness. "Excuse me?" His smirk deepened, a slow burn in his eyes. "Unless you'd rather we finish it now... and go later?" My entire body went stiff, "Are you crazy?" He stepped closer, his fingers caressing the weak spot on my neck, just enough to make my pulse trip. "You didn't say no," he murmured, "so, do you really want me to finish it quick before we leave?" "Don't flatter yourself," I snapped, snatching my robe and tying it tightly. "Let's go.... Once I'm done, I'll leave, and you can either be with her or go anywhere you want, but just stop bothering me!" I don't know if he noticed the faint flush creeping up my neck or not, I just hope he didn't notice it. Instead, he just chuckled under his breath, the sound maddeningly quiet and far too amused. Following the messenger, we went straight to Lydia's room, she didn't even lock the door as if she was expecting for her dearest Alpha to visit her. Her room was drenched in the scent of lavender oil, slightly romantic and seductive. Candles flickered in careful order, shadows dancing like a stage set for a long night. The moment she noticed Kael entering into the room, her face lighting up with a delicate gasp. "Kael," she called out, sitting up despite her terrible wounds which the messenger mentioned, "You came...." Her joy evaporated when she saw me step in behind him, "Luna?" I smiled lightly noticing her disappointment. "Beta Lydia, how are you doing?" Her smile faltered. "Why is she...." Kael didn't even let her finish. "I heard you needed a doctor, unfortunately all are occupied, so, I brought my Luna, she is the most skilled healer here. Let her examine you." She clenched her jaw. "I... of course, thanks for your care, Alpha!" I moved to her bedside, lifting the edge of the blanket. "Where exactly does it hurt, Beta Lydia?" "Oh, everywhere," she sighed dramatically while almost fainting. "My ribs, my side, my back... every breath is agony.... I don't think I can handle this pain, it's too much for me!" Kael frowned slightly, I can see the concern in his eyes, after noticing it, Lydia winced even louder. Looking at these both, maybe I should be the one to faint in disgust, but there's nothing I could do since I came all the way here, let me wrap it up as quickly as possible. I pressed along her ribs, then her shoulder, my fingers gentle and steady to check. "Hm," I murmured. "Your pulse is normal, even the wounds appear to be small and healing well, as far as I noticed, there's nothing to worry about with your condition, Beta Lydia." Lydia blinked being startled. "A misdiagnosis?" Her voice quivered with practiced fragility. "Perhaps you missed it.... It's a severe wound, it can't be healed that quickly...." Crossing my arms, I sighed, "till where I've checked, I didn't find anything wrong with you or your body, do you really think I've a problem with my eyesight?" I can see her face turning pale as she is afraid of getting caught in front of Kael, she stammered nervously, "Ummm, actually it's an inconvenient place for me to talk about when Kael is here..." Shifting her glance towards Kael, she requested, "Can you step out for a minute, Kael?" Kael hesitated, looked at me once, then nodded. "I'll wait outside, if you need anything, just call me." The door was closed behind him, the moment he left the room, Lydia dropped her act. "So this is what it takes to make you useful as a Luna?" she hissed, all sugary sweetness was gone from her tone. "Finally tending to your husband's woman? Don't you feel ashamed?" I ignored her and her words, while unwrapping the bandage around her side, as all are her mouth is nothing but a sewage. While checking her wounds, I saw a small cut, already half-healed, but edges were fresh from being pulled open again. "You reopened it yourself," I said quietly as I knew all her tricks. Her smirk froze as she realised I saw through her acts. "What did you just say?" I re-tied the bandage neatly, my tone calm. "You scratched the wound to make it bleed again, it's clumsy, really childish for you to do something like this!" Her expression twisted. "You arrogant w***e," She shoved herself upright, raising her voice. "At least my blood means something! You, a Luna without a wolf, without a child, what do you even have to offer? You're nothing but an useless woman hiding behind a man, you're just a wife by title, not by love or bond... What do you even know about bleeding for the pack?" I knew what might be running her in mind, she wants me to react in anger, which she can take advantage of later, foolish woman. "You're right I don't know what bleeding for the pack means," I said softly with a mocking tone, "but I do know quite a lot about women who use bleeding as an excuse to lure another woman's husband into their bed in the middle of the night, and someone like that are the one who is called as a w***e!" I knew my words triggered her, it can be clearly seen on her reddened face, her eyes burning with anger, immediately she raised her hand, aiming towards my face. But it never landed. The air in the room shifted, heavy, and serious, her arm froze midair, and trembling. The candles flickered violently, their flames bending toward me as if pulled by something unseen. Lydia's eyes widened in horror. "W-what are you doing?" The voice that answered didn't even sound like mine. I said using my Alpha tone, "the real power of the one you looked down on...." A pulse of power rolled through the room, Lydia gasped, the strength in her legs vanishing as if the air itself had betrayed her. With a furious look, I commanded, "Kneel!"
