JADE POV Sunlight spilled through the curtains, glinting off the blue and silver balloons tied along the staircase. More balloons were scattered around the rest of the house. The place buzzed with hushed whispers from adults and the cheerful giggles of happy children. I stood in the middle of the living room, twirling around in satisfaction at my creation. Perfect, I thought, my heart still hammering from the adrenaline of pulling all this together. Talia came up beside me, handing me a glass of champagne. “This is what you decided to wear for the party you organized?” I laughed softly at the look on her face as her eyes scanned my outfit. “I was whisked out of my house without proper clothing, and besides—” I twirled again, giving her a full view of my short pink Barbie-like gown.
