Lois Stark stepped out of her father's private jet all covered in luxury and style.
“London at last!”
She smirked.
Her handbag came out, struggling to pack all her expensive designer bags and clothes that she got from the U.S. Alfred, her handbag said to her.
“Your father has asked me to put an eye on you after your university education. Yet, you haven't told me what you are planning to do in the U.K.”
“Oh, don't worry Alfred.”
She said, as she scrolled to Evan Stalling’s picture on her iPhone.
“I'm here for my man. And no one is ever coming between us”
She whispered to him.
“Driver, take me to Chelsea!”
She yelled at the Korean man bowing low to her beside her car.
……
“Alright, baby girl! I called my buddy who works at the hotel. He's in the I.T department and he says that he will send you the details of the person that you went into the hotel with that night.”
Julio said, as he dropped the long call he was having with his boyfriend.
“Okay. I can't believe that I was that stupid!”
She vented out. She no longer has an appetite for the cup noodles that she was eating.
“Don't take it so hard on yourself. You were feeling bad, your aura was so negative and you needed to timeout. He was just there at that time. What I'm mad about is that you never told me until today.”
Julio replied.
“It was just meant to be a one night stand. That bastard, whoever he is did not even bother to use protection and has now caused a whole lot of trouble for us all. I swear, when I see him I will…”
She was about to use more curse words and then, Julio's phone chimed. He must have just gotten the notification.
“You lucky bastard.”
Julio erupted in laughter.
“What? What is it?”
She asked.
“You don't realise who you banged?”
“Who did I…? And why should I even care? I just need to see him and we will discuss how we are going to…”
“Shut up baby doll. You banged a f*****g billionaire!”
Julio interrupted her.
“What?”
“He is Evan Stalling. The heir to the Stalling Corporation. He is your baby daddy. You struck a goldmine.”
He laughed continuously.
Melissa still did not know why he was laughing like that. Well, billionaire or not, he has to know about this. And take responsibility too.
……
Four months and two weeks. Evan has been counting down the days that his father will be retiring and he is still bent on him getting married before Evan steps up as the heir.
Cole has decided to be more serious and dedicated in hopes that father will reinstate him back as the heir, but it has not been working so well for him. However, it looks like if Cole continues the charade, he will be announced as the heir again. A week ago, Cole announced to the family that he was going to marry Vera in a month's time. That was when Cole saw in his father's eyes that Tim Stalling was almost second guessing his decision about Cole's disinheritance.
But, where do Evan begin to find a woman to get married to? How will he get married to someone he has no feelings? And how will he cage himself in that kind of situation? He hates the idea of marriage.
This looks like a whole lot of work.
He stood up and walked to get a document printed from his printer and he looks across the transparent glass wall of his office and sees someone causing a ruckus at the gate. He rang up the security.
“What's going on there?”
He asked.
“It's nothing. There's someone insisting on seeing, you but Mrs. Summers says she knows her and she is trouble. So, she asked us to send her away.”
Tony, the chief security officer replied.
“Pull up the CCTV camera, to my tab, let me see her face.”
Evan said.
In a few seconds, he saw her and he recognised her instantly. She was the lady that he also had a one night stand with at the hotel. How did she find him and about him? And what does she want? She probably wants some money for blackmail or something.
“Do you know her, sir? Should we send her in?”
Tony asked, breaking into his thoughts.
“I think I recognise her, but I'm not interested in having visitors around. Send her away and cancel all my appointments for the day. I'm going home early.”
Evan replied. He was a little bit disoriented from seeing her. He never imagined that someone can be this desperate. That's why he hates all kinds of relationships. This is what they do to people.
Evan waited for a little more than an hour before he took his keys and closed for the day. This time, he will not make the same mistake that he did a while ago. He is going straight home.
Soon enough, he cruised into Stalling Manor and he immediately knew that something was different.
“Gavin, what's going on?”
He asked the butler.
“Young master, you have a visitor.”
He replied, curtly.
“Visitor?”
He was quite confused because he wasn't expecting anyone and he wondered why the entire scenery changed because of his visitor.
He walked briskly into the main living room to see his mother and father, talking to his visitor. He still did not know what is going on. Why are they so interested in this person?
“Mother, Father; what is going on?”
He asked. He still has not gotten to look at his visitor because she was facing his parents and not him.
“Oh, you are back early!”
Margaret, Evan's mother exclaimed.
“There wasn't so much work to do, so …”
He did not complete his statement. Instead, he turned inquisitively to look at his visitor's face. When he saw her and recognised her, he instantly understood why there was a big deal to this.
“Lois! What are you doing here?”
He asked, totally surprised.
“You really know Congressman Bill Stark’s daughter?”
Margaret was surprised.
“Yes, mother. Lois and I were college mates in NYU. She met me as a freshman when I was in my finals.”
Evan replied in a lackadaisical manner.
“Evan was so strong and helpful, but too serious in his studies that he had no time for fun.”
Lois replied, staring lovingly in his eyes. This only irritated Evan further.
“Well, we will leave you both to catch up.”
Tim said and practically dragged his wife out of the way. This was becoming awkward to Evan. Even though his parents promised to stay out of his love life, he can't help but feel like this is still sort of arranged in a way.
“What are you doing here?”
Evan was blunt and Lois was stunned as if she was smacked on the face.
“Aren't you glad to see me.”
She stood up and wanted to hug Evan, but he refrained from her embrace.
“I asked you a question. What are you doing here?”
Evan barked.
“You promised that you will call and after I'm done, we will… don't you remember?”
She said, crying.
“I said it to get rid of you. I don't have any plan on marrying you, or even dating you. So, you can go back to wherever you came from.”
Evan replied, coldly and walked away. Lois was stunned. never has she ever been snubbed in her life.
