Raina and Kai both tensed at the sudden noise outside.
Without a word, Kai moved first, pushing open the door and stepping into the dimly lit courtyard. The night air was crisp, carrying the faint scent of damp earth and aged stone. But the yard was empty, no one was there, no signs of movement.
Raina stepped beside him, scanning the darkness. "Maybe just a stray animal," she murmured, though a strange unease prickled at her spine.
Kai didn't respond. His fingers flexed at his side as if resisting the urge to clench into fists. Finally, he turned back toward her. "You should get some rest," he said, his voice softer than before.
She nodded, but just as she turned, he reached out and caught her wrist.
Raina paused. She looked back at him, and in the pale moonlight, she saw his cold face.
"Kai…?"
His grip was firm but not forceful. His scent spread through her skin, sending an unfamiliar shiver through her body.
His voice was low, almost pleading. "Stay with me a little longer."
There was a tight in his words, as if he were holding something back. As if he feared that the moment she turned away, she would disappear forever.
Raina hesitated, but then she smiled faintly and placed her other hand over his. "There's still time, Kai. The future is long."
Hearing her word, something dark flashed through Kai gaze like an emotion one couldn't name. But then, with great restraint, he released her hand.
"Goodnight, RiRi."
She turned away, stepping back toward her room, her heart still unsteady from his cold face.
The following days slipped by in a blur.
The crisp autumn air swept through the palace ruins, carrying whispers of change. Mira, now recovered, had started moving around more.
One afternoon, after finishing her daily tasks, Raina returned to her room. The moment she stepped inside, a strange scent hit her nose.
Had someone been here?
She glanced around, but nothing seemed disturbed.
Shaking it off, she let exhaustion take hold. Today's labour had left her drained, her limbs heavy with tiredness. She barely had the strength to pull the thin blanket over herself before she slept off.
However, a gentle touch brushed against her cheek. Raina groaned, half-lost between dream and wakefulness as a familiar scent wrapped around her, grounding her in reality.
She blinked drowsily.
"Kai…?"
He was there, beside her. His figure was blurred by shadows, but she could feel him.
"You worked too hard today," he murmured. "You should take better care of yourself."
Raina tried to sit up, but fatigue didn't let her.
Before she could question it, Kai’s hand cupped her face. His touch was both reverent and possessive, sending a shiver down her spine.
"You've always been with me," he whispered, his voice thick with something she couldn't decipher. "I won’t let anyone take you away."
"Kai, you.."
Raina forced her eyes to opened fully as she tried to get out of the bed.
But before she could get on the bed, Kai caught her wrist in his hand, twirled her around so she was facing him.
Raina tiredness suddenly disappear as kai held her close with his breath caressing her neck, her face.
"Kai..." Raina’s voice came out in a whisper as Kai encircled her with his powerful arms.
His gaze was focused on her face as if searching for something priceless, something that made his longing worthwhile.
"I want to make you mine, right here. Forever." He spoke slowly with his hand cupping her face.
At this point, Raina was unable to say anything, she could only raise her face in a daze as the words sank into her.
As if finally understanding what he meant, a tear suddenly trickled down her cheek, and before it could roll down to her chin, Kai reached out and brushed it off with his finger.
"Don't cry." He whispered, his gaze caressing her face.
Raina didn’t say a word as she just stared into the eyes of this young man whom she had always served.
Slowly, Kai carried her off the floor, gently placed her on the bed. He stared lovingly into her face as he began undressing her.
Raina closed her eyes slowly, trying to steady her breath.
"This is not cheating! This is not cheating! He doesn’t deserve me and I deserve better..."
Raina’s eyes were still closed as she repeated these words in her head as if trying to calm herself. As if her wolf was in agreement with her, she growled slightly in approval.
Few minutes, she was laying naked beneath Kai. Slowly, she opened her eyes and saw him getting up, pulling off his own coat.
He was n*ked. He drew back a little bit to study her, to see how gorgeous and beautiful she looked.
Raina’s n*pples were pointed, pink and erect, as if waiting for him to take them.
He sighed and smiled. "You are so beautiful, RiRi."
Raina said nothing but only blushed.
Suddenly, their lips met in a deep passionate kiss that sent them over the edge, as passion burned through them with desires that needed to be fulfilled.
Kai hands ran through Raina’s back, caressing them, and pulling her so close to his body.
He deepened the kiss, slowly getting on top of her.
Kai circled her arms around his neck, buried her fingers deep into his hair as she massaged his skull.
Kai disengaged from the kiss, and grunted with satisfaction and pleasure.
He slowly settled himself between her legs, parting them in a passionate way.
He ran his free hand down, teased her feminine spot and found her wet and her arousal hitting his nose.
Growling, Kai blinked as if trying to keep his wolf in check. His eyes now glowing bright gold..
"Kai... is.. that.. you or... your...wolf?"
Raina moaned softly as her eyelids fluttered down. She threw her head backwards and shuddered when his fingers slipped into her.
"Does it matter? I'm yours, in every form..." Kai whispered in Raina's ear, his breath dancing across her skin as a soft smile spread across her lips.
Kai guarded himself into place and slowly drove his hardened d**k into her.
Raina gasped softly, lifting her hips to accommodate him fully. She released her hands from his grip and wrapped them around his body.
He started moving in and out, penetrating slowly but steadily. He was afraid of hurting her because of how tight she was.
They held each, making slow passionate love all through out the night.
When he finally reached the brink, he came fully inside her.
Raina felt fulfilled, satisfied and excited in a way she never felt before.
Kai refused to let go of her. He held her so close to himself, playing with her hair.
Raina closed her eyes, listening to his heartbeat.
