CHAPTER-10

PAIN AGAIN 

Liya's P.O.V 

It was a good time visiting the amusement park, Lucy and Matt were behaving normally. It was the time we were returning back to our houses. Jim dropped everyone... At the moment when we arrived our house it was 12:15 a.m. The lights were on. Our house would be dark at this time, but why not today? I had so many questions in my head at that time... When we entered the house, we saw dad sitting on his rocking chair. He returned back? "Where were you both?" he asked us. Jim and I looked at each other. Jim decided to answer him "we went to an amusement park dad!" The hall filled with silence until dad asked "who asked you to take her out without my permission?" Tears filled in my eyes, Jim then shouted  at him "she is not a prisoner. It would be good if you don't cut her feathers and let her fly to be an independent girl." Dad stood up and walked towards Jim. OUCH! He literally slapped Jim. He slapped Jim when he took my side! Few seconds later he walked to me and then started beating me. It was almost a month that he haven't even touched me but now he started torturing me again. He started giving me pain again! It was hurting me a lot. Jim tried to stop him but he became like a monster who was not going to listen to anyone...

Finally he stopped beating me and turned to Jim, and said "it's better if you keep respecting me or it will not take me a second to do the same with you as I do with her!" After finishing his words he left. Jim gave support to me and took me to my room. I laid down on the bed and tried to relax. Every inch of my body was paining. I apologized to Jim because he took my side and dad slapped him for the first time in his whole life. He asked me not to worry then walked to his room to relax as well. I felt to be so weak! I changed my position after every ten minutes, I just couldn't get any comfortable position so that I can fall asleep..... Almost half of the night passed but still I couldn't sleep. Mostly I sleep a lot, when I was in kindergarten Robet and Jim used to call me sleeping beauty. But the days when dad beats me I just can't sleep at all. I tried my every trick so that I could fall asleep but all the tricks failed. After some time I got a message '[Joe ] - Sleeping?' I replied him 'no'. Then he asked me the reason so I said him that dad was back from his trip and got angry when he noticed that I was late to home... We had a chat for two hours and then I fall asleep while texting him.

I woke up by that dream again. It became my nightmare. I then saw the time, I was awake half an hour before I usually wake up. I laid down again and started checking notifications. There were 10 messages from Joe! I almost forgot that I fall asleep while talking to him. I then thought not to text him and disturb his sleep...How people use this mobile for hours. I feel irritated by using it only for ten to fifteen minutes. I then took out my novel and started reading it...

I reached school then attended three classes. After that Matt gave us the idea to bunk the rest of the classes. I denied doing that after all I didn't want to get more beatings like yesterday night. And when I denied how can Joe even think of going, so he decided to accompany me. Now Lucy and Matt were only going to bunk, so they left. Joe and I both attended the classes. While we were copying our notes Amenda jumped in front of us all of the sudden. She said "you know what little girl your brother Robet asked me out tonight so I just wanted to ask you which color he likes so that I can wear that color dress." I banged on the bench and stood up, then said her "first of all I am not a little girl and second if you have any doubt call Robet and ask about it. And just don't dare to disturb me again.... And yeah remember if my brother asks you out don't think I will respect you for his decision!" She stared at me angrily and then left. "So little girl you mean that you are not a little girl!" I heard Joe's voice who was teasing me. I laughed at him and then sat down to complete my work. When we were done with our notes we decided to go to the canteen... We ordered 2 burgers and 2 glasses of orange juice. It was tasty! I never tried this combination before.... I went home and started studying for finals, there was just a month left for me to get prepared. I studied for four to five hours and then went down stairs to find Jim. But a servant said me that he went out for a reunion party. Strange he didn't even inform me? When there was nothing to do, I took a bath. I sat on my bed and called Jim it was 1:00 a.m. though dad won't scold him but still, it was a bit awkward for me to not talk to my brother for a day. His mobile was switched off! I hope so he is fine....

I got cold and flu so I had the medicine and then laid down to rest. I must take care of my health because if I don't do so I can't top in final exams and get a job.All I wanted was to just buy a house with my money and live in it happily without any problem. I wanted to be self dependent and enjoy my life. I was fed up of sitting in home and getting pain from my father. Tears rolled out of my eyes. I wiped them and turned to my right side and slept.

I woke up and saw the bright weather from my window, it looked awesome! I went to the garden and walked there for some time. I was feeling energetic after doing so. While I was walking from here to there a postman arrived, he gave an envelope to the servant and left. I was curious to know what was it but she took it to dad's room. Now it was really hard for me to know what it was. Buzz... Buzz.... Buzzz! My mobile started vibrating, I took it out from the pocket of my trouser and picked up the call. It was my aunt who lived in Switzerland. "Hey Liya how are you?"

"I am fine what about you?" I asked. "I am fine as well! I called you to inform that you should get ready, ask your three close friends to do the same! Uh..Umm..who were they? Uh-huh Lucy, Joe and Matt. Actually dear, Jim asked me to do so, he wanted you all to visit here and enjoy. Well okay listen to me your tickets are booked and also being sent to your house. You will be taking off in three days! Come on go pack your bags and listen no need to worry about that crazy human being aka your dad. I have handled him too. Just get ready okay! Bye, hope we meet soon." What like seriously we are going to visit Switzerland. I ran to Jim's room, he was still sleeping. I jumped on him and then asked "hey bro! Are we really gonna visit Switzerland?" He shouted at me "Can you just get up! I am getting exhausted!" I stood there on his bed and asked him again in excitement, he nodded giving me the same wide smile as I was having on my face! I asked him that should I inform Lucy, Matt and Joe  And he said yes. I got down from the bed and when I was about to leave a thought hit in my mind "will Robet join us?" I asked. "No! Now can you go! And let me sleep?" he shouted again. I happily ran to my room.

We must all suffer from one of two pains:

 the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. 

The difference is discipline weighs ounces

 while regret weighs tons.     {A short proverb based on the episode.}
