“Who did you say you met?”, with a curious look on her face. “Charles. I don't know how I couldn't have thought about him being the owner of the complex, I mean….”, leaning against the table.
“So what happened? Did you two talk? Did he say anything?”.
“Nothing much. Immediately I locked eyes with him, all what happened three years ago started flashing before my eyes”.
“And he saw Liam as well?”, taking the sip of her water and placing the glass down.
“Yes, he did. There were obvious questions written all over his face, I'm sure he held himself from asking any”.
“So is this how it'll keep going on? You won't tell him anything about Liam?”. “I will when he deserves to be told”.
“But Liam is he's son. You of all people should know that you can't hide him away forever”.
“I'll figure something out”, already frustratedas it is.
“When Liam gets older, what happens then? You can't go on like th…..”, cutting her off. “Mom, please”, sitting next to her on the couch, “I've got this all covered, I'll manage it. You've always been there for me ever since Dad passed away and we didn't have a my problems”.
“But it's not that easy, Sophia”, holding my hands in hers. “I know, but I'll have to try my best, right? I can't leave without Liam now. You both all I have”. She pulls me into a hug, “Alright then”, patting my back, “But please tell me when everything's starting to get hard on you”.
“Of course I will, now let's go to bed”, I gesture her to go to the room and I turn of the lights.

Getting to my hotel room with James, unable to get back on the flight to the Hamptons, still astonished by what I saw today. Heading to the table in the kitchen, I grab a bottle of whiskey out oo the bucket filled with ice. I placed it on the table and go ahead to grab a cup.
James walks towards me while I pour my drink in a glass. “None for me?”, with hands open towards me. “Get your own”, walking past him to go seat on the sofa.
“You know we could have stayed at my condo instead”, also pouring himself a drink. “I didn't think I should impose”, taking another sip from the glass.
“How are you imposing? I don't leave with anyone”. “Which you should”, pointing a finger at him.
He scoffs, “With all that turmoil between you and your relationships, no thank you”. I turned to him and eyed him then with an obvious look. He gestures with both hands up indicating his defeat.
Walking back to also have a sit, “But do you also think she could have probably gotten married to someone else? She even had a son now”.
“You should have asked he that, when you were being all friendly with her”, giving him a sarcastic look.
“In my defence, I couldn't possibly have pretended I didn't know her. I mean, you guys are married”.
Immediately cutting him off, “For your information ‘were’ married, ”. “Right, but technically, she only just left your house. You guys didn't sign any documents”
Dropping my glass hard on the side table and getting up, “Don't you have somewhere else to be?”. “No, I don't. I'll be staying with you till you head back to the Hamptons”.
I walk past him taking off my suit and then the shirt, “Get out!”. Placing my shirt down in front of me and looking at myself I the mirror with my mind still trailing back to Sophia.
“Come on Charles, you couldn't possibly be thinking of her after all what she has done. There's nothing special about her. You are top on the charts of the most influential and affluent businessmen. You can get whatever woman you want”.
I splash some water on my face and proceed to take a shower. “Is that what you're trying to make yourself believe?”, James interrupts leaning against the open doors pathway.
“I'm not trying to make myself believe anything. It's the truth”, giving him a stern look.
“Then why did you move your flight forward to next week?”, crossing his arms.
“Because I do whatever I want, it's my life”, hanging my clothes in the closet, “and besides, she seems to be having a good life already. She even has a son now”.
“Exactly my point”, sticking out his hand trying to make his point, “Sophia isn't one that would just forget a relationship just like that”.
“Well people change. That's the only constant thing in life”, unhooking the button on my trousers, “Get out”.
“Seems like you've changed too”, getting up to leave. “And it's better for us”,I said slamming and going to take my bath.
