The steady hum of the airplane filled the cabin, but I couldn’t sit still. Not with the weight of my thoughts pressing down on me. I needed a distraction. Anything to keep my mind from spiraling. Sliding out of my seat, I made my way toward the small lounge area near the bar. Theodore didn’t say a word, didn’t even glance up from his laptop as I walked away, but I knew he was aware of my every movement. The bar wasn’t crowded—just a few first-class passengers nursing their drinks, lost in their own worlds. I settled onto one of the stools, exhaling slowly. "Champagne?" the bartender asked. I nodded, and just as he poured, a deep voice beside me cut through the low chatter. "Flying alone?" I turned, meeting the sharp brown eyes of a man who looked like he belonged on a magazine cover.
