“Holy s**t,” Karli breathed. She leaned back against the cabinet and tried to wrap her head around what he was telling her.
“Yeah.” Cade ran his hand over his head. “Obviously, I ended things with her, but to make things worse, the husband claimed the affair was entrapment. He said his wife orchestrated the entire thing so she could get access to his company. Since there was a documented history between myself and Alanna, and Mrs. Waters hired me, the judge sided with the husband and my client lost her case.”
“Fuck.”
“And then she dragged my name through the mud. She never said anything that wasn’t true, so I couldn’t sue her for slander, but it ruined my career. No one wanted to hire me for infidelity cases anymore. And before long, no one wanted to hire me for any cases.”
