Karli stared at the computer screen and tried to make herself invisible. It wasn’t easy for a woman her size, but it was the only way she was going to get through the day without wanting to cry.
No. That wasn’t true. She wanted to cry. But being invisible might mean she could get through the day without crying.
Things with Cade had been tense since he found her looking through his notepad. She really didn’t know why it was such a big deal, but he’d barely spoken to her since. When he went out for a run the night before, she went to bed. She left the bedroom door slightly open, but he didn’t join her. And when she woke up in the morning, he was already up and made coffee. While she took a shower, he got dressed, and they left without speaking. It had been the same all day.
