Day one

Ramona’s point of view                 I woke up with a foggy head, I may have fallen asleep quickly, but I know I was tossing and turning all night. The heat in the house was getting to me, but I was too cheap to pay to use the air conditioning. I got out of the bed and got dressed; today I decided to wear a pair of jean shorts with tights underneath, a blank tank top that is splattered with paint and a purple flannel. I walked into the bathroom, took my retainer out and brushed my teeth. Then I fixed my hair; I let it out of the messy bun that was holding it up from last night and straightened my hair. By the time I finished with everything, my stomach started to grumble. I felt it first, then heard my stomach; it was definitely time for breakfast. It’s around 8 AM and I needed to eat.                 I headed to the kitchen, my new guest still hadn’t come out of his room yet; maybe the sound of food cooking or the smell will wake him up. I looked through the fridge, I didn’t have much food left, I will have to go to the grocery store today, I’ll probably take Skye with me, so I’ll get food that he wants since I don’t know what he eats. Bringing my thoughts back to the food in my fridge, I had bread, bacon, and eggs; that would be a decent breakfast. I don’t eat much, but I thought I should make some for Skye too, just in case he was hungry. I started a pot of coffee and got to cooking. Pretty soon breakfast was ready, but still no sign of my guest. I plated the food and brought mine to the dining room table. I stuck Skye’s food in the oven to keep it warm.                 I finished my breakfast fairly quickly. Then I put on my headphones to listen to my music, so I wouldn’t wake Skye up. I was beginning to wonder how late he was going to sleep in. My music was blaring in my headphones with some of my favorite songs playing, I couldn’t help myself; I started dancing while doing the dishes in the kitchen. I finished the dishes and moved to the dining room to clean the table. I kept dancing while cleaning and jamming out. I was in my own little world with my music, for a while I forgot I had a house guest, until I turned around while dancing. There he was staring at me with a smirk on his face. I turned off my headphone and put then around my neck and smiled at him, while trying to hide my embarrassment of getting caught while dancing.                 “Good morning. I hope I didn’t wake you up.” I said sheepishly.                 I felt warmth creeping up on my face. I was blushing and was having a very hard time hiding my embarrassment.                 “Good morning to you too. Nice dance moves, by the way” Skye said jokingly to me Yikes. He had definitely been standing there a while, watching me dance. Why hadn’t he said anything or stopped me?                 “I made you some breakfast: eggs, bacon, and toast. I put it in the oven to keep it warm for you. There is also a pot of fresh brewed coffee, if you drink that.” I responded, trying to ignore his comment about my dancing.                 I looked at Skye, he was wearing ripped and faded jeans, a black V-neck t-shirt and a blue flannel with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He looked really good today. I had to push those thoughts out of my head, I was finally starting to be happy and accept myself, and I didn’t need to get wrapped up in another man right now.  Plus, he had come to me for help, I had no idea what he was going through and he probably didn’t need someone throwing themselves at him, while he sorted out whatever was going on with him.                 “I really appreciate that.” Skye responded, rather sincerely.                 I grabbed his plate from the oven and motioned to where the coffee mugs were in a cabinet. I brought his plate to the dining room table while he made himself some coffee. I sat at the table across from him while he wolfed down his breakfast. It was evidently clear he didn’t eat anything last night. We sat in silence while he ate. The silence felt deafening, but I didn’t want to try to talk to him, I could tell he really needed to eat. After he finished eating and drinking his coffee, I stood up to clear his dishes.                 Skye went to hand me his dishes and our hands brushed. There it was again, that feeling. Something inside me was starting to wake up and more than anything I needed it to stay asleep.                 “You don’t need to do my dishes, my hands aren’t broken. Plus you’ve already done so much for me already. Cooking my breakfast and letting me stay here.” Skye said to me as he handed me his dishes.                 “I know I don’t HAVE to, but this is my house and I like to keep it clean” I responded dryly, trying to keep some space between me and him. I then went to the kitchen to clean his dishes, while he remained at the table.                 After finished his dishes, I sat at the table across the table from Skye again.                 “I’m running pretty low on food. We will go to the store today and pick some stuff up.” I said looking at Skye blankly                 “WE?” he questioned with an eyebrow raised                 “If I have to go, you have to go. And, I don’t know what food you eat, don’t eat, or may be allergic to. Who better to help me grocery shop than the person who will be eating?” I responded rather snarkily. I was still trying to create space between us, so maybe whatever I was feeling, I wouldn’t. “WE will leave soon, so get ready while I make a list”                 Skye nodded and me and headed to the bathroom. Skye’s Point of View I woke up with the sun on my face.  This room didn’t have any curtains and the sun was shining right in. I checked my phone and it was only 8:30 in the morning. I could hear some noise in the kitchen, but I wasn’t ready to come out of the bedroom yet.  It didn’t help that the bed was incredibly comfortable and smelled like Ramona. I couldn’t get enough of it. So instead of getting up I pulled out a book and started to read.  The smell coming from the kitchen was amazing, I was so hungry. I decided it was time to get out of bed and face Ramona. I looked through the clothes that I brought with me. I decided on some jeans, a t-shirt, and a flannel. The house was warm, so I rolled up my sleeves to help me stay cool. The kitchen area had been pretty silent for a while, the only thing I could hear was the sound of water running in the sink, Ramona much have been doing the dishes from breakfast. I found myself hoping that she hadn’t eaten without me; I wanted to get to know her. Eventually I couldn’t take it anymore and left my room. Ramona wasn’t in the kitchen. So I walked to the doorway to the dining room. There was Ramona, with her hair down; it went almost to the middle of her back. She was gorgeous. She was facing away from me, with big headphones on I was captivated by her; I watched her dance. A smile crept up on my face, without me realizing it. Eventually she turned around while dancing and saw me watching her.                 “Good morning. I hope I didn’t wake you up.” Ramona said quietly                 I kept looking at her, her face started to turn red; I hoped I hadn’t embarrassed her.  I thought she was the most amazing person, without even knowing her, and I never wanted her to feel bad.                 “Good morning to you too. Nice dance moves, by the way” I responded, without thinking. I hoped I didn’t come across like a smartass.                 “I made you some breakfast: eggs, bacon, and toast. I put it in the oven to keep it warm for you. There is also a pot of fresh brewed coffee, if you drink that.” Ramona responded to me, ignoring my comment about her dancing.                 I looked at her. I mean really looked at her. There was just something about her that I couldn’t shake. There was an instant attraction that felt like it wasn’t going to go away. I didn’t want it to seem like I was coming to stay with her so I could shack up with her. I really was here because I needed a place to stay, not because I was looking for a new relationship. Especially with someone who was a literal stranger to me.                 “I really appreciate that.” I responded to Ramona. I was truly thankful for her and for food. I was so hungry, the only things I wanted to do were eat and get to know her better.                 She grabbed a plate from the oven for me and pointed to where I could find a mug for my coffee. She walked back into the dining room and put my plate on the table while I fixed my coffee. I sat down at the table and Ramona sat across from where I was at. I was seriously hungry, so instead of trying to make conversation with her, I devoured the breakfast she made for me. It was basic, but delicious. After I finished eating, Ramona got up to clear the dishes from the table.                 I handed the plate to Ramona and our hands brushed. I could feel the chemistry again, just like from last night when we shook hands. Something was here, I just didn’t know what it was.                 “You don’t need to do my dishes, my hands aren’t broken. Plus you’ve already done so much for me already. Cooking my breakfast and letting me stay here.” I  said to Ramona as She took my dishes from me.                   “I know I don’t HAVE to, but this is my house and I like to keep it clean” Ramona responded dryly. It was almost as if a switch flipped in her and she was trying to be cold to me.  Then she went to the kitchen to clean my dishes, while I stayed at the table.                 After Ramona finished my dishes,  she sat back down at the table, across from me again.                 “I’m running pretty low on food. We will go to the store today and pick some stuff up.” Ramona said looking at me blankly                 “WE?” I questioned with an eyebrow raised. Did she WANT me to go to the store with her?                 “If I have to go, you have to go. And, I don’t know what food you eat, don’t eat, or may be allergic to. Who better to help me grocery shop than the person who will be eating?” Ramona responded rather snarkily. “WE will leave soon, so get ready while I make a list”                 I didn’t know what else to say to her, she was being rather cold, so I didn’t say anything. I just nodded to her and walked toward the bathroom.
