A Whole New World

Livia blinked a few times and stumbled back. She dropped the chain in her hands and looked around. The room was strange, everything looked so different. She moved towards a window and looked out. What she saw she couldn't believe. There were wagons with no horses pulling them. There were people dressed in very little and walking around happily. The grass was so green.... the buildings were tall and build like castles. She looked around the room again and then at her hands. But they weren't her hands. They were someone else's. She looked around confused and finally spotted a small mirror on the door. She looked at it and her reflection. But it wasn't her reflection. She stepped back quickly but then slowly looked in. She touched her face. "It worked." She smiled. "it actually worked!' She heard a door creak open from the other side of where she stood. She listened to the voices she heard. "Oh my god, can you believe Jackson? As if he wants that girl." "The only thing he wants from her he will get and move on. Guys like him always do." The two girls chatted back and forth. Livia stood in a new body unsure of what the next move should be. This was a new world. Did she dare walk out and try to figure out the place? She turned back and saw a bag on the couch. She picked it up and began to try and open the zipper. "What fool came up with this?" She tugged at it hard until it opened. She looked through the bag and at the papers. Everything looked foreign. She couldn't read what anything said. The language was odd and didn't make sense. She noticed a photo of her new body with another girl. She knew at that moment she needed to find that girl. She put the bag over her shoulder and opened the door much to the surprise to the two girls talking. They looked at her and she froze for a moment. "You! As if you are getting close to Jackson, just look at you!" They moved towards Livia. Livia looked confused and just sized them up. Who were these girls? Who was Jackson? "Nothing to say Anna? Are you proud of yourself?" They taunted. Livia tilted her head. Anna. That was this body's name. She made note of it so that she wouldn't forget and could use it to her advantage. Who would believe she was someone else anyway. She had basically body jumped into this girl. "Oh now you think you are special? How about we show you how special you really are." They moved toward her threatening. Livia dropped her bag to the floor and looked at them. "Would Anna run? Because I am not feeling like running today." She smiled and as the first girl moved forward she pulled her left arm toward her and flipped her against the desk, making the desk buckle and the girl's body go limp. The next girl shocked backed up. "What's wrong? Not feeling as special as you thought I was?" Livia took a step forward and the girl screamed and ran away. Livia laughed and went back to pick up her bag. The other girl who had flipped over on the desk was moaning in pain and confusion. Livia knelt down. "You should never start a fight if you don't know you are going to win. You likely won't make this mistake again." She stood and walked out into the hall the way the other girl ran. Everything was odd. Small doors filled the hallways and Livia thought this was strange. She walked slowly down the hall and watched as a few others passed here and there. When she got to some stairs she held tightly to the railing. The stairs seemed to go on for what looked like forever. She had seen stairs, but never this large a set. She made her way to the ground floor and was happen once she stepped outside onto the surface. She looked around. Everything was so different. She pulled the photo out of the bag and began to scan the area for anyone who looked similar. She walked along and kept looking until she stopped by the roadway where the strange wagons without horses were traveling. Suddenly one stopped. "Need a ride home sweetie? Your brother is done his baseball practice" asked the man who looked tired and worn out. Livia looked at him and at the kid who sat in the front seat. This is the family of this body, she thought. The little boy looked up at her front the front seat. "I am not sitting in the back, I got up here fair and square." Livia smirked, he was mouthy for a young child and you didn't see that from her time. She looked at the wagon. "How?" She asked looking at him, wondering more about how to open the door and get in the car. The little boy sighed and got out of the front seat and opened the door, exiting and moving to the backseat. "Fine, but only because you wash my clothes and make me snacks." He closed the door. Livia looked at the front and got in, sitting down and closing the door. "Seat belts." Anna's father stated and looked more toward his son at the back.  Livia turned and watched the boy put his on and then she looked at the man. "You too," he said and smiled. Livia put the belt on and as the car pulled away she held tightly to the door. Who knew something without horses could move so fast.
