Amara
As Samuel leaves, I can feel the uneasiness of my decision resting on my shoulders. He has always been close with the people in the Kingdom, but I don't know about taking in his friend, who has recently found out he is a low-powered Djinn. I know he has kept my identity and most of his knowledge about the camp a secret, but I know he must be telling someone about us. I have a feeling this Atlas man is who he has been talking to and has been communicating with the royals. I think this one is a close friend of the prince that is on our side fighting for our freedom. I want to believe there is good in the Kingdom, but I am wary of them. They all want power they cannot have.
I am the protector of the Djinn and Genies. I run this camp that takes in the young ones and the ones that are afraid to live on their own. They say I am the most powerful one in existence, but I don't want to be overconfident about that. I know I am a descendant of the first Genie to be known, my violet eyes are her trademark. My powers are unmatched and nothing known yet will hold me ever. At only five foot three inches, a small build with some muscles from combat training, you wouldn't think so. My long brown and blonde hair sets off the violet purple tinted eyes. Over the many years I have done everything I can to learn and protect our kind. Anyone with Magick can always count on my to be there for them if I can.
The Kingdom selecting a new King has very much been on my radar. The two Princes are very different, and I want to support Alaric because he says he wants peace and an alliance. I am worried about what that would entail though, and I would have to step into the spotlight with him and my people. I need to find a way to learn more about him and maybe find him after a couple of weeks of his journey. Maybe this new Djinn will be helpful in learning about the palace and its people.
I walk out of my cabin and step into the sunlight. I told Samuel to bring the newcomer Atlas here tonight, and I will introduce him at dinner at the camp. Before that happens, though, I must round up the other leaders and let them know. Even though I am in charge I always like to give them a heads-up before something big happens.
Cassius is our head warrior, trains everything in battle and defense Magick. He's very serious most of the time. I met him in a battle between humans using their Djinn's to take over a small village. He was defending them but losing, and when I showed up to help he declared his alliance with me. He has followed me ever since, and he has been trying to spark more than just a Magick alliance with me. Although he is strong and attractive, unfortunately I don't see him that way. Over six feet tall, muscular, blonde hair and brown eyes, he's always got a crowd of followers. He is a born leader and wants to protect his kind. Many female Genies are interested in him, strength is attractive, along with the promise of protection that would follow as being his. I will always keep him at friends length in our relationship though.
Ivy is our healer and works in that Magick, and my best friend for years. Years ago a Djinn made himself a literal explosive to kill many humans. I tried to stop him but was unsuccessful. She found me miles away struggling to recover from his dark Magick. She helped me and has been by my side ever since. She is definitely an odd character. Absolutely beautiful, tall with long legs and a figure that would stop an army. Though Ivy fits her name and appearance, her hair is green and so are her eyes. Very powerful and secretive, very much about her as well as the others that are secretive.
Theo is another powerful Djin that helps lead the camp. He is an all-around type Magick that is rare to find. He is a sealer and is our best at helping break the bind Genies and Djinns might have with an object. He was looking for low-powered Magick ones to help free them in the same town I was one day. Boyish charms and looks with his young appearance. Sandy blonde hair, and blue eyes, build on the skinnier side because he doesn't engage in physical combat really. He loves riddles and learning about the past. He is very helpful when I am trying to find out more about the history and our Magick abilities. He also knows almost all the lore about Magick beings.
I get them all into the meeting room and sit down at the head of the table. I don't know how they will react to this, but it has been something on everyone's mind lately.
"I have an announcement, there will be a new Djinn coming tonight. His name is Atlas, he is a friend of Samuel's from the palace. He was in a battle and a sword went to strike him and his Magick came forth and shielded him from the deathly blow. According to him, he had no knowledge of having Magick until then," I say, looking around the room to get their reactions.
"You expect us to just take this man in and trust him with what is going on now. He is close to the Royals. How do you know we can trust him," Cassius says, anger apparent in his voice. Of course, he would be the first to speak and throw suspicions at him.
"I understand that, but this might be our chance to learn about them too. He will be closely watched, and I will take accountability for him personally and train with him," I say, trying to put them at ease.
"I don't mind, if you think it is the right thing to do, I support this," Ivy says. She is almost floating in her chair, she flashes Cassius a smile. Those two are always going back and forth to try to get under each other's skin. Another reason I love Ivy as my best friend.
"I trust you, Amara. I will help you with teaching him about us if you need," Theo says, nodding his head in respect. Always dependable for my support.
"I think this is suspicious," Cassius says. He crosses his arms and sits up in his chair.
"We will give him a chance. If it doesn't work out, we can ask him to leave and go back to the Kingdom. But you should remember I will not blindly turn my back on our kind if they need our help, Cassius," I say. Trying to sound as confident as I can, even though I too have suspicions about this Atlas man.
"Fine, but this impending war and fight for the crown is making everyone edgy. I will not put our people in danger. Humans have been talking out power and using us for too long. Wishes and Magick they do not need, at least not from us," Cassius says, standing and going to leave, but stops at the door to look at me.
"I understand Cassius." I nod at him and then look back at the others. "He will be here tonight. We will have a gathering fire for him tonight."
"Yay a party! I will get everything ready, food and music. Everyone will love it, a special guest," Ivy says excitedly.
"Thank you, Ivy, let me know if you need help with anything. I have to get a place for him to stay ready for him," I say standing to dismiss them.
"Magick help us, a party," Theo says with a sigh and shaking his head. Ivy is well known for her wild celebrations.
This is sure to be a night we will all remember for a long time. I can feel the Magick in the air rising and falling with my emotions. I must be careful to keep myself in check. I have a feeling I will soon need to pick a side and make a powerful move. As Thoe said Magick help us all.
