The golden hues of sunset bathed the quiet New York suburb as Lucas parked the car in front of the grand, two-story house. Its immaculate exterior, framed by manicured hedges and a cobblestone pathway, seemed to emanate an inviting warmth. Colin sat in the backseat, practically bouncing with excitement as he craned his neck to look out the window. He pressed his nose against the window, his excitement barely contained. "Is this it, Mom? Is this the house?" Colin asked, his voice tinged with awe, his wide eyes taking in the grand entrance. Desi’s grip tightened on her seatbelt as she took in the familiar structure. Memories swirled in her mind, moments she thought she’d left behind, now rushing back with vivid intensity. Her palms were damp, and her heart pounded against her ribs.
