Chapter Four

1054 Words
Leslie I managed to return back to the pack house without tripping. The image of Colton lingered on my mind, his piercing eyes, his hand on my arms. His calm voice. As I shut my door behind me, I wondered if we would ever cross paths again. Not long after, a knock came on the door. “Come in." I said. The door pushed open and a maid walked inside, in her hand were some neatly folded cloth. I guess she brought what I was going to wear to welcome the guest. “Just put them down and leave, I would dress myself up today." She nodded, bowed slightly and walked out. After a quick bath I stared from one dress to another unsure of which one to pick. In the end I settled down for a floor length pink v-neck gown. Thirty minutes later I was done dressing up, I didn't want to dress so beautifully so I kept everything low. Satisfied with my look I walked out of my room and headed straight to the meeting room where Alpha Hudson normally meets with his guest. Brisk steps took me to the meeting room. I stepped inside and the first person I saw was Alpha Hudson, he was seated on his seat looking...weak. I scoffed. He should have just died. My eyes scanned the other four people, the only person I was quick to recognize was Kael. I guess the remaining three were the important guest. Hudson on noticing my presence, beckoned on me to come sit beside him. I first hesitated where I stood but eventually I moved away from the door and went to sit beside him. The head of the three guests were slightly bowed, it was as if they were forced here against their wish. I looked away from there when Hudson cleared his throat. “Young men," He started saying. “Meet Leslie my lovely and beautiful wife." I snorted. Lovely wife indeed. The three men raised their head up at once and I caught the familiar eyes of the dashing young man I bumped into at the mine. Wait a minute, what was he doing there? And why was he sitting beside those two identical men? What the hell was I saying? I mean... “Leslie." Hudson called me cutting short my train of thoughts. He pointed at the men. “Please meet my sons, Samuel, Fabian and Colton." To say I was shocked and surprised was to put it mildly. Hudson had children outside. Not one or two but three. Three f*****g grown men. Why had Hudson kept this fact a secret? Why didn't he tell me he had heirs outside? Was I going to do now that I knew I had three stumbling rocks before me and my goals? What about my plans? But apart from those problems, why on earth was Colton among his sons? From where I sat across the triplets, I could feel the glares thrown at me. “How about you three introduce yourselves properly?" Hudson offered. If Hudson ever thought that was going to happen, he must really be stupid and daft. Colton stood up from his seat. “Why?" He queried. “Why should we stoop so low as to introduce ourselves to your little plaything?” His eyes held mine as he asked. I felt raw hatred in his voice. “And by the way, Father." He continued. “Why do we need to be here? Mom’s replacement can handle things while you’re sick.” The look he shot me was entirely different from the one we shared earlier; his look held disgust and anger. One of them stood up. I was yet to know if he was Fabian or Samuel. He held Colton by his arm, whispered whatever to him and he sat down on his seat. He pointed at himself. “I'm Fabian, he's Samuel and he is Colton. Nice meeting you." He said and sat down almost immediately Nice meeting you too. Hudson cleared his throat again. “I know you three are angry with me and I know I deserved all the anger directed at me." He was silent for a moment then he continued. “I know the bastard who was behind her death and I've gathered all the information necessary on how to bring him down. I would have punished him myself but my condition stopped me from taking action . I'm not giving an excuse though." He coughed weakly. “All what you need is with my Beta." He pointed at Kael who hadn't utter a single word since I came in. “But-" Hudson held out his hand. “For you three to get your hands on the Intel and everything else you need to avenge your mother's death, you three need to live in the pack for a year." Murmurs came from the three brothers as they obviously weren't pleased with Hudson's decision. “I'm still talking young men." Hudson snapped and the room fell silent. “If I die and the year is not yet completed, you three are to stay and take care of the pack and also protect Leslie. If after the year ends and you three decide to leave and return to your late mother's pack, you three are free to leave." “Is that all?" Colton asked. He wasn't happy being here and he didn't try to hide it. Or maybe it was because of me. Hudson was about to reply him when a soft sound whizzed past my ears, next was Hudson body on mine with body dripping down from his chest to my body. I screamed and pushed him away, I jumped up from my seat and took at least two steps away from an unconscious Hudson. What just happened? How did someone shoot an arrow? No, no, no. The question should be who had the nerve to shoot an arrow at the Alpha with the intention to kill him? “Would he be fine?" I heard someone asked. Was it Samuel? “He's already weak and frail, his body can no longer heal." I heard Kael said in response. “He's not breathing." Was the last word I heard before I finally succumbed to the darkness that hovered over my head.
