RAINE’S POV The second I got back, I plugged in my phone. It must’ve died on my ride back. I kicked my shoes off and headed upstairs, tossing my jacket somewhere near the stairs. As I moved around the penthouse, there was no sign of Chloe. I frowned. That was weird. I figured she’d be here by now, curled up in her blanket with a face mask on, whining about how much her feet hurt. I guessed she was probably at Tyler’s place. Or maybe still wrapped up with the guy she’d been hooking up with yesterday. Chloe never really had to explain herself, and honestly, I never asked. I envied that about her sometimes, how she made everything seem simple. She made mistakes, shrugged them off, and kept moving without any care in the world. Sometimes, I wish my life were like Chloe’s. Definitely not
