I sat in my corner office at Fredrick Construction, watching through my window as Bernard supervised the Morrison renovation project under the careful eye of Patricia Torres, his new supervisor. The sight of my ex-husband being monitored like an untrustworthy employee filled me with satisfaction that never seemed to get old.
It had been two weeks since I caught Bernard trying to steal our clients, and the punishment I had given him was working exactly as intended. His reduced salary was forcing him and Tracy to downsize their lifestyle, and the constant supervision was making it impossible for him to cause any more trouble.
