743 Words
Morning arrived, and Day 7 on the island began. As soon as everyone woke up, Rickey quickly called The Gate Seekers together. “Get ready fast,” he said seriously. “I found something suspicious in the island. We need to go there.” As usual, everyone first caught fish, freshened up, and ate breakfast together. The moment breakfast ended, The Gate Seekers immediately rushed into the island. Stacy and Samhitha noticed them leaving and quickly followed behind. “Wait! We’re coming too!” Soon, everyone reached the middle area of the island where the strange vine was located. Rickey stopped before crossing the vine and asked, “Can you see anything strange?” Everyone looked carefully. “No,” they replied. Then Rickey and everyone slowly crossed to the other side of the vine and asked again, “Now can you see anything?” Everyone’s expressions changed instantly. The vine was now clearly visible. From one side it could be seen, but from the other side it completely disappeared. Everyone became shocked. Immediately, Rickey asked Vickey to bring the bag containing their tools. But when Vickey checked the bag, all the tools were missing. Confused and asked Henry. Henry calmly replied, “I used them for hunting animals on the next island.” Vickey quickly collected the tools from Henry and rushed back. Without wasting time, Rickey grabbed the axe and cut the strange vine. The moment the axe hit it— The tree suddenly cried out painfully. Everyone froze in fear and stepped back immediately. Rickey threw the axe angrily onto the ground. Clang! A strange metal sound echoed from underground. Rickey’s eyes widened. “Did you hear that metal sound?” Everyone looked confused. “No… we only heard the tree cry.” Rickey stared at the ground seriously. “There’s definitely something buried here. We need to dig.” Everyone looked confused, but Samhitha suddenly remembered something. “My father brought four shovels just in case!” Soon, Stacy and Samhitha brought the shovels, and everyone began digging together. Hours passed. They dug deeper and deeper while taking turns because everyone slowly became exhausted. Everyone except Rickey. No matter how much he dug, Rickey never seemed tired. By lunchtime, they had already dug deep enough to reach their feet. Completely exhausted, everyone returned to the camp where Henry and Tracy had prepared lunch. Everyone ate heavily before resting inside the hut. After some time, Vickey woke up and noticed Rickey was missing. He immediately rushed back to the middle of the island and froze in shock. While everyone had been sleeping, Rickey had continued digging alone. The hole had now become deep enough to reach his legs. “What are you even searching for?” Vickey asked in disbelief. “Why are you digging this deep?” Rickey didn’t reply. A few moments later, Samhitha arrived and looked into the huge hole. “I think he found something like treasure,” she said excitedly. “Let’s help him.” Soon, one by one, everyone else woke up and joined Rickey in digging again. By night, the hole had become nearly eight feet deep, but still they found nothing. Everyone slowly lost hope. Frustrated, Rickey slammed the shovel hard into the ground. CLANG! This time, everyone clearly heard the metal sound. Hope instantly returned. Everyone began digging faster than before. After removing more dirt, something huge slowly appeared beneath the ground. Everyone froze in complete shock. It was— The Open Gate. The exact same mysterious gate that existed behind their school. Julie, Stacy, and Samhitha stared at it in complete confusion while the other boys remained speechless. Rickey slowly gave a small smirk. “Let’s go back,” he said quietly. “Tomorrow… we start our journey.” Vickey, Rockey, and Alex looked at Rickey and smiled excitedly. Julie stared at the four boys in complete shock, while Stacy and Samhitha watched them with confused expressions, unable to understand what was happening. Everyone silently returned to the camp. It was already very late, but Henry and Tracy had waited for them before eating dinner. The children didn’t explain anything and quietly ate together. Completely exhausted, everyone soon fell asleep inside the hut. Everyone except Rickey. Unable to sleep, he picked up the axe he liked carrying and stepped outside into the cold night. Under the moonlight, Rickey silently practiced swinging the axe again and again for the entire night.
