Chapter 11: Day 5 - The Boar

968 Words
Morning arrived, and Day 5 on the island began. As the sunlight slowly spread across the shore, everyone woke up and came outside the hut. Henry stretched his arms and smiled at the children. “Alright kids, let’s catch some fish again.” All seven children quickly became excited and ran toward the water with their sharpened sticks. While they were busy catching fish, Henry stayed near the hut preparing more wooden sticks. As he worked, Rickey’s bag suddenly fell onto the ground. A sharp blade slipped out from inside it. Henry picked it up curiously and looked inside the bag. He found several tools, ropes, and equipment the boys had secretly brought with them. Immediately, he understood how the children had managed to build such a large hut so quickly. “So that’s how you kids built everything so fast…” Henry said with a smile. Using the blade, he sharpened the sticks much more easily. After finishing, he suddenly picked up a raft and began preparing to leave the island. The children noticed immediately. “Where are you going?” Alex asked. Henry smiled confidently. “I’m going to the next island for hunting.” The moment he said that, all the children shouted together— “No!” Henry got startled for a second before laughing loudly. “Relax. I’ll come back safely.” Even though they were worried, the children finally let him go and watched the raft disappear into the distance. After some time, everyone ate fish and crabs together while waiting for Henry to return. Meanwhile, Henry carefully arrived at Twin 2 Island. The forest there felt darker and quieter than usual. Holding his sharpened sticks tightly, he slowly walked forward step by step, carefully searching for any wild animal. Suddenly, near the left side of the shore, he spotted a wild boar. Henry immediately crouched down and slowly moved closer without making noise. Once he got close enough, he threw one of the sharpened sticks with full force. The stick stabbed directly into the boar. The animal let out a furious scream and instantly charged toward Henry with terrifying speed. Henry quickly grabbed another stick but realized he wouldn’t have enough time to throw it safely. At the last second, he jumped sideways and barely dodged the boar’s attack. The boar crashed past him violently. Henry immediately rushed toward its blind spot, pulled out the knife, and stabbed it repeatedly. The boar screamed painfully and struggled wildly. Even after several stabs, it still refused to die. Using its remaining strength, the boar suddenly threw Henry away violently. Breathing heavily, Henry slowly stood back up. The boar had become weak and could barely walk properly anymore. This time, Henry grabbed an axe. Shouting loudly, he charged forward with all his strength, jumped into the air, and swung the axe directly at the boar’s neck. The boar collapsed instantly. By lunchtime, Henry finally returned to the island with the huge boar loaded onto the raft. The children ran toward him in excitement and shock. “You actually hunted it?!” Henry laughed proudly while everyone admired the giant animal. After eating lunch together, Henry began cleaning the boar carefully. He removed the inner organs and passed a long stick through its body so they could roast it over the fire later that night. As he worked, everyone surrounded him excitedly and asked how he had caught it. Henry explained the entire fight dramatically like a hero telling a battle story. By the end, all the children looked at him with admiration. Finally, Henry smiled and said, “Tomorrow, I’ll take you all hunting with me.” Everyone became excited immediately and thanked him happily. Soon, night arrived. They lighted the campfire once again and placed the boar over the fire to roast it slowly. The smell filled the entire beach as everyone sat around the flames talking and laughing. After some time, Rickey picked up the knife and prepared to cut the roasted meat. He placed right hand on the boar and raised the knife— But suddenly Vickey stopped him. “Wait, let me cut it.” Rickey shrugged and handed him the knife. Vickey lifted the knife toward the boar. And suddenly— The boar’s eyes opened. Everyone froze. Within seconds, the boar suddenly stood up. Julie screamed. The half-roasted animal began jumping violently near the fire as if it had returned from the dead. Everyone panicked and ran toward the hut in fear. They quickly rushed inside and peeked through the gaps in the wooden walls. The boar continued jumping crazily before suddenly running toward the ocean. Then, out of nowhere— A giant shark burst out of the water and swallowed the boar whole before disappearing back into the sea. Silence filled the island. Nobody moved. Nobody spoke. Julie had fallen onto the ground in fear, trembling badly. After several minutes, everyone slowly calmed down, though fear still remained in their hearts. That night, nobody wanted to touch the boar again. Instead, they quietly ate fish and the food the children had brought with them. Later, everyone went inside the hut and tried to sleep, but the strange incident kept disturbing their minds. Outside the hut, Henry and Tracy quietly sat near the dying campfire discussing what they had witnessed. Meanwhile, Rickey stepped outside alone for a short walk. His mind was completely filled with thoughts about the impossible event. “How could a dead boar come back to life…?” he wondered silently. As he walked through the dark trees, he suddenly tripped over a vine and fell onto the ground. Irritated, Rickey stood up, brushed the sand off himself, and slowly returned to the hut. Soon, everyone finally fell asleep under the uneasy silence of the island.
