Turned?

**Ian's POV** That was an unexpected end to our coffee date. I laughed to myself thinking about how red Ari's face had turned when her friend called her a hussy. Of course, we both knew that wasn't the case. But the fact that she got embarrassed told me where her thoughts had been going. Same as mine. Can we mate and mark her yet? Dante asked. Of course not. It is too soon. She has to find out about us first. I am sure she thinks that werewolves are just a thing in movies. My mind imagined her finding out about us and the look of terror on her face like in the old school movies. Dante whimpered in my mind at that thought. I shuddered. The last thing we wanted was our mate to be afraid of us. As I walked through the front door I heard my mother from the other room. "Ian is that you?" "Who else would it be?" I heard the annoyance in my Uncle Nick's voice. Of course it was me. My uncle never had anyone inside his home. Ever. "Hi Mom!" I called to her before I walked over to the living area. As she came into view, her and my step-father, Alpha Marcus, stood up from the couch. I walked over and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Alpha Marcus held his hand out and I shook it. Always the Alpha first. "No Zeke?" I asked. "No, we haven't seen him in a few days. He has been celebrating the end of his training." Just like I thought. My mother and stepfather sat back down on the couch. I decided to take the chair next to the one that Uncle Nick was currently occupying. "So I have heard that you found your mate." This came from Alpha Marcus. "Yes I did, but she is a human. So things are going to be a little slower than normal mating and marking." "Slower to a point. You have an obligation to fulfill since you have now found your Luna." Inwardly I groaned. It was going to be hard enough to convince Ari that wolves were real. After that, I was going to have to explain to her how she was now responsible for an entire pack of werewolves. My mother noticed my hesitation. She put her hand on top of Alpha Marcus's hand that was sitting on his knee. "Take it one step at a time, Ian. We don't want to scare the future Luna off before we even have a chance to meet her." She turned her gaze to Alpha Marcus with her last comment. He quickly looked towards my uncle. Who, up until this point, had been quiet. "Ian, you could invite Arianna to dinner tomorrow night. Your parents are staying for a few days and you already know they made the trip in order to meet her." "I also came to pay my brother a visit." Was my mother's response to my uncle. Uncle Nick made a soft scoff noise. He turned to my mother and gave her that "yeah right" look. She just smiled at him and turned towards me again. "Dinner tomorrow night sounds like a great idea." "You don't think meeting my parents after 5 days is too much?" "Son, you are going to have to introduce us soon enough anyway." She did sound sympathetic towards my situation. But in my mother's case, both her mates were wolves. My father, her first mate, and my step-father, her second-chance mate. "I'll give her a call later and see if she is up for dinner tomorrow then." With that out of the way, my Uncle Nick and Alpha Marcus excused themselves to Nick's office. They had some business to discuss. My mother and I headed to the kitchen to work on something to eat tonight. My Uncle Nick's cook is off tonight. So we had to fend for ourselves. Lucky for us, my mother knew what she was doing in the kitchen. I sat on the barstool to keep her company. If I tried to help she would just complain that I was in the way and have me sit anyway. "So what do you know about her so far?" She asked as she went through my uncle's fridge. "Well, her mother died in childbirth. It had just been her and her father. I guess he never dated. He owns a book store in town that she helps him with. She has a...colorful best friend. She has a level head on her shoulders and she is the most beautiful creature I have ever seen." "I was just going to ask if she was truly your mate up until that last comment." My mother gave me one of her full smiles. "I just want to be near her all the time. I am really trying not to smother her. It is difficult though." "That is the mate bond for you. It never goes away. I love it." She set about starting a few pans on the burners and warming them up and she cut up some produce and then got out a separate board for the steak. "Does she seem like she is up to the task of being a Luna?" "She is very smart, and cares about people. I think she will do great as a Luna. That is if she doesn't reject me for being a wolf first." "Don't lose faith in the mate bond, my dear. It is a powerful thing. Even for humans." "Oh, I meant to ask. Does the electric feeling when we touch ever go away?" My mother shook her head. I am glad to hear it. "Are you okay for a minute while I go give her a call about tomorrow?" My mother just waved me off. She was content to finish cooking. I walked back out to the foyer and headed up the stairs to the room I was in. Once inside, I took my phone from my pocket and called Ari. "Hello?" "Hi Ari. So my parents are in town and they were wondering if you would like to have dinner with us tomorrow." No time like the present to get on with it. There was a slight pause at the other end. Way to go. We pushed her. "Sure. What time?" I let the breath go that I didn't know I was holding. "Um 7? Does that work for you?" "Sounds good. I will see you all then. Have a good night Ian." "Goodnight Ari." With that, I headed out of the room and back down to the kitchen to let my mom know that she had accepted and what time she would be here. When I almost reached the kitchen, I heard raised voices coming from my Uncle's office. I slowly took a couple steps closer to his office. Werewolves had great hearing. If they knew I was trying to listen in I knew I would get a** reamed. "How have you kept him in the dark for all these years?" This came from my uncle. "I didn't want to worry him. He needed his focus on the business aspect. Besides, I didn't think that his mate was going to be human." "Well, you are going to need to tell him before you leave in a few days. Ill help him a much as I can. I really wish he knew." I slowly started to step back. Sadly, since I did not grow up in this house, I didn't know where all the spots to avoid squeaking were on the floor. One of my heels made noise, alerting them of my retreat. I stopped for half a second to see if they would throw open the door. I thought I almost got away when the door was suddenly thrown open by my uncle. "Might as well come in. Your father has something to tell you." My uncle waved me into the room. As I walked in, I noticed that Alpha Marcus was behind my Uncle Nick's large wooden desk. My uncle's office could have been mistaken for a library with the amount of books covering his walls. My guess is he had probably read every book in this room. I took a seat on the other side of the desk in one of the matching wooden chairs across from my stepfather. "What do you have to tell me?" I asked. Alpha Marcus took a deep sigh and sat in the chair behind the desk. My Uncle Nick stood standing near the door with his arms crossed in front of his chest. "Do you know what happens when someone is mated to a human?" Alpha Marcus asked. "I know that it takes longer for the mate bond to manifest completely. With wolves it is pretty instant. I am hopeful though, since she felt the zap as I did when we first touched." "Do you know what happens when an Alpha is mated to a human?" "Besides the obvious fact that she will become Luna? What else is there?" Alpha Marcus looked over at my uncle for a moment. He then looked back at me and said, "When an Alpha has a human for a mate it is expected of him to turn her before she can become a Luna." My stomach dropped as the last word left his mouth. Turn her? I didn't know such a thing could be done. I thought we could only be born this way. "Turned?" It was the only response I could get out. My brain was moving too quickly with questions to actually form one. "Yes. There is a ceremony that the elders perform. During that ceremony it is expected that you will bite her. Not to mark her, but to turn her. The marking will have to come after she is a she-wolf." So not only was I going to have to convince Ari that wolves were real. Or that she was going to be a Luna. Now I had to somehow tell her that she had to become a she-wolf in order to be with me. She is going to reject us. What human would be willing to become a wolf, to become a Luna of a pack that she wasn't even raised in? If I didn't know any better I would say that Dante was having a full-on tantrum. My thoughts weren't any more positive though. How were we going to pull this off? "What happens if she doesn't want to be turned, but she wants to be with me?" I had to make sure that I knew the ramifications of each course. "She won't be accepted as Luna. You will either have to reject her or go rogue." Dante growled inside my head at the mention of becoming a rogue. They were disgusting creatures. They only cared about themselves. Most lost their minds after losing their pack. Leaving them a shell of a wolf. No remorse, no care for any other living soul. "I can't become a rogue wolf. I am an Alpha and our pack depends on me." My step-father, Alpha Marcus, looked at me with pride after I said that. "I believe you will do the right thing, Ian. No matter the outcome, myself, your mother and our pack are behind you."
