"You're late"
I paused and stared at him, it was ridiculous to say that I was surprised he was there because he was the instructor of our training group. I winced under my breath, when I realized that I had missed training two times in a row and without permission too. Rosa shot me a quick smile, I could see the apology in her eyes for being scarce these days. If only she knew that I wanted to apologize too because I didn't make any effort to look for her but I know she would have been with the lover that she made at camp. I tried to think of an explanation but couldn't come up with a reasonable one. He stared at me. There was something different about the way he looked at me this time, his eyes were empty of the irritation and the scorn they usually had when they landed on me.
