“What?!” I exclaimed, unable to believe my ears.
Max had delayed his return to the pack for so long that when we’d received a letter stating that he was close to the pack just before I got summoned by the Council, I’d brushed it off like it was another one of his reassurances.
The harsh sound of screeching chair legs against the floor came from the side of the meeting room as Grace exclaimed with excitement, “My brother is back!”
