Once and for all

1720 Words
"MOMMY.." she heard her three-year-old daughter yell from the other side of the house, scaring the hell out of her. She panicked and bolted out of the kitchen, making sure to switch off the stove. In a rush, she dashed into the bedroom, only to find her daughter sulking and tossing clothes around in her tiny wardrobe. Letting out a sigh of relief, she approached her daughter. She saw her daughter's cute pouting face and walked over, crouching down next to her. They both faced the now destroyed cupboard, a result of her daughter's mischief. Her mom asked her, "Why did my baby yell like, that all her dresses disappeared." Upon hearing her mother, she turned and shouted, "Exactly mommy, my favorite pink dress is missing!" She hugged her mother and continued, "I love that dress so much, and it was Henry's favorite too. I want to wear it to go play with him." She smiled, shaking her head, and said, "Yes, it's a big problem. Alright, let's both search for that dress." They began their hunt for her daughter's cute pink frock. She went over to the bed and looked for that dress because her daughter had turned the whole bed into a total mess. A huge smile appeared on her face when she saw the dress her daughter was looking for and she excitedly said, "Anya, mommy found your dress!" Hearing her mother, she quickly ran towards her and gave her a big hug, saying, "You're the best mommy!" After they broke the hug, she grabbed the sparkly dress from her mother's hand and looked at it with adorable doe wide, excited eyes. Seeing her daughter's excitement, she bent down and gave her daughter a kiss on the forehead and said, "Okay, mommy will make your favorite milkshake while you take a bath like a good girl. Then come to the kitchen, alright?" She kissed her daughter's cheek again. Hearing her mother's words, she nodded and tossed the dress back onto the bed. She rushed into the bathroom, laughing and said, "yes, mommy" She chuckled too, watching her daughter run, and then turned to the bed with a sigh. It was now her turn to pout and clean up the mess her daughter had made. She put the pink dress on the bed and left her room. Their house isn't tiny, it's actually plenty big for just the mom and daughter - it's even a bit too much space for them. With a living room, kitchen, and a bedroom with its own bathroom, it's all they need. She went into the kitchen and got back to cooking the meal she had left earlier when her daughter started screaming. While she was cooking, she muttered to herself, 'That little devil,' thinking about her daughter. Once she finished cooking the pasta, she made her daughter's favorite chocolate milkshake and arranged everything on the kitchen table. While she was placing the plates, she suddenly sensed her daughter's presence behind her. Her daughter came running towards her, shouting "mommyyy," and hugged her tightly from behind. She turned around, picked her daughter up in her arms, and showered her with kisses on her cheeks before placing her on a chair. "MOMMY, mommy.. me!" Her daughter exclaimed, giving her mother a big, slobbery kiss on each cheek, this made her smile wide. "You sit here, baby. Mommy will go get your milkshake," she said, and her daughter nodded enthusiastically. She went to the kitchen to take her daughter's milkshake, and came back to sit beside her. "Mommy, give it to me," her daughter requested, but her mother shook her head and replied, "No, first, finish your breakfast, and then I'll give it to you." Upon hearing her mother's response, the little girl pouted and started eating her breakfast with a slumping posture. She had a big smile on her face as she saw her daughter eating so adorably. She was grateful to have her by her side, knowing that she didn't leave like everyone else. Her daughter was truly a blessing in her life, bringing light to her darkness and happiness to her sadness. She playfully pinched her daughter's cheeks, earning a cute whine. She chuckled and let her eat in peace. After she finished her breakfast, she extended her hand to her mother and said, "Give me my milkshake now." Hearing her daughter, she passed it into her little hands. Once she finished drinking, she gave the empty glass back to her mother. As she tried to run away, her mother held onto her little arm, turned her around, and wiped the corner of her mouth where some milkshake was still lingering and said, "My clumsy baby." Hearing her mother's words, she pouted and replied, "I'm not a baby." In response, she squeezed her daughter's cheeks and said, "Alright, my big girl." Her daughter showed her mother, her tongue cutely and then she ran towards the main door. She saw her daughter running and shouted, "Anya, be careful! Don't go anywhere except the park!" Hearing her mother, she stopped by the door and turned back towards her mother and shouted, "Okay, Alessia!" and then she ran out of the door. As she sat on the chair, with her wide eyes stunned, she couldn't believe what had just happened. Her little troublemaker was now calling her by her name. She shook her head with a smile on her face and started eating breakfast. She always ate after her daughter so she could make sure her daughter ate more. She let her daughter go out alone because the neighborhood is safe for her, and the park is just a few steps away from their house. Plus, she knows other kids are at the park. She figured she could go get her daughter in an hour, which would give her enough time to finish her housework. Since it's Sunday today, she can take a little break and doesn't have to take her daughter to kindergarten. Normally, during the weekdays, she drops her off at the kindergarten and goes to work at the bakery shop. In the evenings, she picks her up, but it always makes her sad to see her daughter waiting alone because all the other kids have already left because after work, she has to wait for the bus before she can finally reach her daughter. In the evening, they have their routine of making their daughter's favorite snacks, having dinner together, and then going to sleep. After finishing cleaning the house, she glanced at the clock and realized it had been over an hour since her daughter had left. Swiftly grabbing the key, she locked the door and headed towards the neighborhood kid's park. As she strolled through the park, she noticed all the children engrossed in playing but couldn't spot her daughter anywhere. Panic started to creep in as she frantically searched the entire park, desperately looking for her. To make matters worse, she couldn't even ask anyone for help since she knew nobody in the neighborhood would talk to her. Having lived here for three years, she was well aware that her status as a single mother had created a social barrier between her and her neighbors. She was running around and then she saw her daughter all alone on a bench in the park. So, she rushed over, sat down on the ground, and gave her daughter a big hug while scolding her, saying, "You scared mommy, Anya! Why are you here alone?" She could still hear her daughter sobbing. She pulled away and saw her daughter in a state of hysterical crying, causing panic to rise within her. She softly held her daughter's face and gently asked, "Anya, baby, why are you crying? What happened, sweetheart?" She anxiously awaited her daughter's response, fearing what it might be. And then her daughter's words shattered her from the inside. "Mo... mommy, what is pr..prost.. itute?" Her heart skipped a beat upon hearing those words and she mustered the strength to ask her again, "Baby, why are you asking about this?" Her throat tightened, feeling as if tears were on the verge of escaping, but she didn't want her daughter to witness her own breakdown. "Mommy, Henry's mommy told him not to talk to me or p..play with me because I'm the daughter of a p..pros.titute and il..legiti.mate child." As she heard her daughter's words, she hugged her tightly, unable to control her tears. How could people be so heartless, saying these things to a child barely three years old? They were truly cruel. She gave her daughter a tight hug and said, "Baby, don't let their words get to you, okay? They don't know anything and they said that to you to stop their son from always playing with you," wiping away her daughter's tears, she reassured her, "So, his mother is just trying to keep him from always playing, nothing more." She tried her best to assure her daughter. Hearing her mother, she pulled away from the hug and asked, "Is that really the reason, Mommy?" She looked to her mother for confirmation, who nodded in response because she couldn't find her voice. She knew that if she spoke, her voice might betray her and she might start crying in front of her daughter. "Hey there, sweetie, Mommy has something important to tell you," she said, brushing her daughter's face. Her little one perked up and eagerly asked, "What is it, Mommy?" "Guess what, baby? Mommy bought us a huge new house! Should we go there and make it our new cozy home?" The excitement in her mother's voice made her eyes widen with joy as she exclaimed, "Really, Mommy? Are we moving into a new home?" Hearing her daughter's excitement, she nodded her head and her daughter wrapped her little arms around her tightly, saying, "You're the best mommy!" Hearing her daughter, she smiled with tears flowing down her face and hugged her tightly. She vowed to never let her daughter grow up in this awful environment with cruel people, as it would surely take a toll on her mental well-being. So, she made up her mind to leave this place once and for all. Her sole mission was to provide her daughter with a future filled with happiness.
