My eyes snapped open. Mobilizing every remaining shred of my strength, I cried out toward the doorway, "Help! Please, help me!"
Hearing my voice, Simon rushed back in from outside, reaching out to cover my mouth. But he was too late. The door was flung open, and doctors and nurses in white coats rushed in carrying emergency medical equipment.
"Who needs emergency assistance? What happened?" one of them asked.
"I do," I gasped, instantly raising my hand, my voice weak but urgent. "Acute angina... they took my nitroglycerin..."
The doctor immediately knelt down to examine me.
Just then, Damian walked in, his tone dismissive. "Doctor, don't listen to her. She just choked on some spicy food and is faking it..."
