Chapter Twenty-Eight

1116 Words
*ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO*   “Hey, you!” A little boy with a shaggy black hair addresses a little girl in a pretty purple dress.   “What?” Answers the little girl as she turns around.   “Where are those clone freaks that are always by your side?” The boy teased.   “I don’t know. Who are you again?” The girl tilted her head to the side while trying her best to remember.   “It doesn’t matter. You know what, ever since you came to live here, Brad and Ford doesn’t come to play at my mansion anymore… you friend-stealer!” The boy stuck out his tongue to the girl who was almost at the verge of tears. And then finally, the girl burst out crying…   “Hey, stop that! I didn’t mean what I said… I’m sorry.” The little boy tried to apologize but it just made her crying worse.   He tried to think of what to do to shut the girl up so without even thinking, he leaned forward and kissed her left side of the cheek which unexpectedly worked.   “What… was… that… for?” The girl said in between sobs.   “That was me saying I’m sorry, I really am and I’ll even promise to not make you cry ever again... why don’t you just marry me so that I can prove to you that I’m not lying?” The boy asked innocently.   “Okay. What does marry mean, anyway?” The girl asked as the two of them started to walk together.   “Um… I don’t know. It’s what guys always say that makes a girl happy on TV right after giving the girl a ring.” He shrugged.   “Where’s my ring?” She asks.   “Can you wait for about eight years? By then I’ll give you the ring.”   “Okay. What’s your name again?”   “William…”                                                                                            And that was how Will proposed to Brooke when they were still young and naive… apparently the word reached to both of their parents and without knowing a thing about what the consequences of the future might hold, as time passes by, both of them has forgotten.   *BACK TO THE PRESENT: BROOKE’S POV*   “Oh my God. I think I remember now…” I gasped.   “Finally, it’s about time.” Art rolls his eyes at me.   “I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT WILL’S MY FIANCE ALL ALONG!” I can’t help but scream at these two narcissists right here.   “What? No. I’m talking about the ‘more obvious’ one, not your ‘other’ fiancé.” Art emphasizes.   What the hell, man?   “I’m talking about Jagger Fritz, does that still not ring a bell in your pretty little head, Brooke?” Now he’s just being sarcastic.   Say What?   *STILL ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO*   “Wow, you’ve got such a shiny and fluffy-looking hair that’s just like my dog’s! Can I please touch it, pretty please?” Little Brooke pleads to a little boy with a platinum blonde hair right in front of her.   “What’s in it for me?” The unfamiliar kid crosses his arms. Apparently, the new boy was just visiting in their neighborhood.   “What do you have in mind?” Brooke asks him.   “You.” The boy thought that this girl’s pretty cute and so…   “Deal!” She knocked herself out with ruffling the boy’s eccentric yet soft and fluffy hair.   They say that life starts at 40 but for Brooke, it all starts at 6…   *BACK TO THE PRESENT ONCE AGAIN*   “Now are you FINALLY done with all the flashbacks that you’re having while staring in space, cousin?” Art brought me back to the real world by calling out to me.   “Uh, yeah… pretty much. I hope.” Why I’m suddenly starting to remember all of these things just now is beyond me. What the hell.   What does that meeting have to do with Jagger being my fiancé?!   That’s just plain ridiculous… I was just ruffling his hair and then… BOOM! Newsflash: Jagger Fritz is my UNOFFICIAL fiancé!   “Is there something else that you want to tell me?” I asked. Why does Art have to give me a lot of hints first instead of just saying everything that he knows directly into my face?!   Oh right, I might have a heart attack out of knowing some sad truths about my life…   “Um, besides the part about your OFFICIAL and UNOFFICIAL fiancés, I think that I’ve got nothing else to tell you… for now.” He smirks while Prince sulks at one corner.   “Let me get this straight, you’re telling me that I’ve got TWO fiancés, not one but TWO and Will’s my OFFICIAL fiancé just because our parents already approved of it a long time ago while on the other hand, there’s Jagger on the sidelines as my UNOFFICIAL fiancé, did I get that right?” Whoa… I sound like some crazy person right now. So not cool.   “Wow! You catch up pretty fast, you cutie!” Art pinched my cheeks like he always does when I figure something out on my own, with or without his help.   Help. I’m starting to lose my sanity in here...!   “You know what, Brooke…” Prince finally uttered something.   “I think it’s about time I give you up… not because I want to… but because you already got your hands full. Although I’m willing to wait for you until you clear things up. Now I’ll give you the freedom and space that you’ve always wanted.” And with that he walks away…   Since when did Prince mature this much? It’s my first time seeing this kind of serious side of him.   “I think he’s right. I need to clear things up with my OFFICIAL fiancé first and since we hate each other’s guts so much, I bet it’ll be easier to break off our engagement!” I decided.
