Chapter Twenty-One

“Hi mom, how’s dad? I’m fine. No. Wait, what? That’s not necessary… you can’t… hello?” Bummer.   The first call I ever got from my mom was her saying that she’s sending my cousin over to check-up on me like I was some kid.   “How’s your parents?” Ford lazily scanned a sports magazine, lying on his couch.   I found myself crashing in his room for the night… without any Jagger or Prince in sight for now.   “Still the same. My dad’s still clueless about where I’ve gone off to because he’s too busy on his business trips to even care that I’m gone and mom is pathetically furious that I haven’t found myself a boyfriend yet. I don’t get why she’s so psyched up about marrying me with someone…” I sighed.   At least I had friends here compared to having no one at all back in our huge mansion, too lonely for my own good.   “Is that all there is to it?” Gage chimed in. I forgot that they’re actually roommates who didn’t get along that well too.   “Um… there’s also my cousin coming over for some reason and something about to wed me off with someone… yep, that’s about it now can you please explain to me why my picture’s with Jagger? A.K.A. your partner in crime? Sounds familiar, no?” I dropped the big question right away.   “Your picture… right, I have no idea.” He still has some guts to lie the obvious to me?!   “I’m so glad you decided to sleep with me for the night instead of my brother’s” Ford said in a monotonous tone like he wasn’t glad at all. There’s got to be something up with him…   “And with me… you’re going to have to sleep in between us tonight and it’s going to be so fun…” Gage playfully added, smirking so naughtily at me that even Ford had to grimace his face at whatever the guy was hinting at.   “No, I get to be in the middle… to separate Brooke from you.” Ford and Brad have this similar trait ever since we were little kids and that’s being overprotective when it comes to me though I don’t need to be protected.   “What are you? Her mommy?!” Gage teased.   “No, her future… I mean… WHAT? He knows?!” Ford turned to look at me in alarm.   “Yes, unfortunately. I was being careless.” I said, bored.   “How many else knows, Brooke?” Ford was now being about this.   “Let’s see, You, Brad, Gage, Prince and Will… that’s basically like five people in total… not that many compared to the whole school population.” Like I have time to even care about who and how many finds out about me. I just want to get transferred to another school with lots of girls.   “Good evening gents, I’m here to pick up my beloved… darling, it’s time to go like back to our room.” Prince appeared by the door and in a second he was standing beside the bed where I sat, offering his hand to me like the Prince he was.   I still couldn’t figure out how this weirdo found out about me… and here I thought he was one of those fools.   “No way, Brooke says she’s going to sleep here tonight to get away from the likes of you… such perverted roommates.” Ford spoke in my defense.   “Look who’s talking? I believe all men are certified perverts in either a discreet or bold way. Don’t tell me you don’t see this beauty as a girl who excites you in bed?” Prince was obviously the bold type of a pervert, no need to argue about that.   “What the hell does that mean, pervert?” I rolled my eyes, smacking my head with a hand.   “I meant… that feeling of excitement… uh, you get excited just thinking about sleeping together in bed, just sleeping and nothing more than that.” He smiled so dazzlingly.   “I see… you mean a turn on? Probably.” Gage sighed, looking me over up and down like I was food.   “You get the point, Harrison? Brooke’s safe with me in comparison to your roommate over there.” Prince said in triumph and hoisted me up like a sack of rice, my upper body hanging from his back.   Where’d all the decent men in this world gone to? I know I’m one…
