8 They came swarming down the hills, a wave of spindly red bodies. Sion stood on her hind legs and breathed a gout of flame over the gate. The inferno struck a group of goblins who were racing for the trench. Their bodies succumbed to the fire and withered like parchment being burned. My stomach churned with disgust, but I managed to steel myself against the revulsion. Now was not the time for weakness. The rest of the army reached the bottom of the hills and charged ahead. Two groups formed, splitting down the middle, and they rushed into the trench. I watched in confusion, unsure of what they were doing.
