Spiritual guide

Sophia’s POV I smiled at the woman who sat across from me, thanking her for the cup of tea. “Are you still drinking tea with the ghost, Allegra?” A deep voice croaked out, and I snapped my eyes at the annoying man. “Her name is Sophia, Milo,” Allegra scolded, sending me a sorry smile, and I pressed the cup to my lips, chugging down the warm liquid. It was one of those normal days where I have my tea with Allegra, hearing Milo’s grumbles and sarcastic notes. Well, Allegra was the only person who could see me as she was a spiritual guide. How did I meet her? It was a funny story. Flashback. I stared at the people passing by me, then a woman ran through me. I stood frozen in my place, filled with disbelief, still not knowing how I came here. A few seconds ago I was in the hospital room and now I was in some street somewhere on earth. “Life for Christiana must be boring in my body while I’m having fun,” I muttered, walking away from the crowd. I placed my hand on my chest, feeling a wave of pain. My heart swelled with pain every time I thought about her with Sam alone. The tears welled up in my eyes and I cried freely, knowing no one was seeing me. My mind was a mess of thoughts, most of them useless. I wasn’t having my normal life any sooner. A sign caught my attention, and I finally knew where I was. “Havana,” I whispered, my jaw flying wide open. How do I return to my body? I asked myself, staring at the people passing by me. Not even a single person noticed my existence. I rolled my eyes at the irony of the moment. “f**k my weird life,” I grumbled, dragging myself to God knows where. “Interesting.” a voice caught my attention, and I locked eyes with a pair of dark blue eyes. I narrowed my eyes, looking behind me, thinking the woman was talking to someone because there was no way she could see me. “What’s your name?” The woman asked, and I knew she was talking to me. She offered her arm for me to shake as she introduced herself. “I’m Allegra.” “Sophia,” I answered, shaking her hand hesitantly. “Your soul is still warm. You are alive,” she muttered with a smile. A rush of joy exploded inside of me when Allegra said those words. She was the first person to see me besides Christiana and maybe that woman could help me have my life back. “I think you have a lot to share,” she trailed off, and my lips quivered into a wide grin. Flashback ends. “Allegra, she’s f*****g dead!” Milo shouted, and she glared at him. “Ouch, your words hurt Milo,” I said sarcastically, but of course he didn’t hear me. Allegra put her hand on my thigh, rubbing it softly. “I’m sorry, dear, for his attitude, he’s usually nice,” she apologized, and I offered her a tight-lipped smile, reassuring her I wasn’t hurt. I got used to Milo being aggressive for the past weeks. A twinge of pain made me drop the cup, and I quickly messaged my chest, trying to soothe the pain. Allegra looked at me with concern and I forced a smile but winced instead from the pain. “You are getting weaker,” she muttered, and her words were like arrows, striking me in my heart. I was dying. “Yeah, ghost girl, leave,” Milo shouted, and I snickered at him before leaving. Christiana’s POV I squeezed my eyes, getting annoyed by the sunlight. I tried to get up but Sam’s arm was around my waist; he pulled me to him, muttering under his breath with a sexy morning voice. “Where are you going?” He was spooning me, his head buried in my neck, and I could feel his warm breath against my skin. A shiver traveled down my spine. “T… to close the drapes,” I shuttered. He kissed my neck. “Let’s stay like this, it’s peaceful,” he said, kissing my cheek. I turned around, meeting his sleepy gaze. His half-opened eyes were focused on my lips and I felt blood gather in my cheeks. I was scared to catch feelings for him; he was nice, and he had all the traits I missed in my life. He smashed his lips on mine; it was a delicate and quick kiss. He grabbed my head and buried it in his chest, wrapping an arm around me protectively. “Please don’t panic on me. I want you to know whatever you do to push me away won’t work,” he mumbled, kissing my head. I nibbled on my lips and sighed. What was I supposed to say? I’m sorry, Sam, I’m not Sophia, so I need some time to adjust to someone who’s in love with Sophia. Also hoping that I don’t fall for him. My life is supposed to be a movie, maybe a tv show. We stayed like this till I fell asleep again in his arms. We slept for another hour and I woke up to continuous knocking on the door. I looked at Sam, who was still sleeping, not bothered by the sound. I freed myself from his grasp and jumped on the wheelchair, heading to the door. I opened it and saw Kylie. “Well, good morning, sleeping beauty,” she said sarcastically, walking inside the house. “You didn’t forget I was coming, did you?” She asked, turning to face me. “Of course no,” I said, closing the door. I gazed at her, and she shrugged before walking to the living room. Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything to Kylie. I thought as I followed her. “Where’s your physical therapist?” She asked, looking around. I snapped my fingers, and she looked at me. “Kylie, did you forget I was Sophia? You can’t bust in like this,” I said in a stern tone, looking at her as she sat down. “And Sam is sleeping in that room over there,” I hissed. Her eyes followed where I was pointing, and she gasped. “You broke your promise with her,” she said, shocked by me, and I just rolled my eyes, getting up from my chair and sitting next to her on the comfy couch. If Sophia was pissed, she would’ve shown up, but I haven’t seen her since yesterday. While I was having a nice warm bath, she popped in the mirror and I ignored her by sinking myself underwater. Sam was right outside the bathroom. I couldn’t talk to her without him hearing anything. I rubbed my forehead, feeling pressure on my chest. “Seriously, how am I supposed to keep any promises? She told me no funny business with him and when I did, he was heartbroken, so she told me to act like her.” This was confusing. “Is she here with us, though?” Kylie asked, blinking at me. “She who?” Sam’s husky voice broke in, and my eyes widened. I breathed in and turned around, looking at him. His eyes were hardly open and his hair was a mess. He yawned as he approached us. “We were talking about my doctor,” I replied, and he nodded. He wrapped his arms around me, kissing my head. “I’ll make you breakfast and get your medicine,” he said, pulling away. Kylie just looked at me with a puzzled look, not used to how I handled that type of affection. “Did you eat breakfast?” He asked Kylie, catching her attention. “No,” she mumbled. He guffawed, striding towards the kitchen. “That’s Alec’s usual,” he said out loud, and I noticed the sadness across Kylie’s face. I placed my hand on her knees, and she looked at me, letting out a shaky breath. “He’s right, Alec isn’t a perfect guy, but at least he cares about the baby even if he dumped me after knowing,” she mumbled. “How are they even brothers? Look at Sam. He is very caring, responsible, and loving while Alec, he’s just different.” “Why did he return to you?” I asked, and she just chuckled. “His mother knew about my pregnancy and she forced him to have me back. They didn’t tell Sam because of you,” she answered, her gaze meeting mine. The Summers women always picked the wrong men, except for me. I was now with the right man but as someone else. Kylie could’ve lived as a single mother. She had the money as she was my manager and she also had my house. She was careful with her choice of words, as the kitchen was next to the living room and Sam could hear us. I heard Sam’s phone ringing; he picked it up and answered the call. I took the opportunity he was busy with the call, and grabbed her hand, pleading, “could you please hurry with finding the woman? I can’t fall for him, Kylie,” She pursed her lips, shrugging her shoulders. “He’s nice, so I don’t see why you are complaining.” I narrowed my eyes at her, huffing with annoyance. “He isn’t mine, don’t you get it!” I whisper-yelled, and she nodded. I heard his voice disappear, and I stayed silent. “The therapist is on her way and breakfast is ready,” he called out from the kitchen I got up with the help of Kylie, then she sat me down in the wheelchair and pushed me to the kitchen. I looked at Sam as he placed the plates on the table. He was humming a song and stopped when his eyes met mine. “It smells good,” Kylie complimented him, and he smiled. “I will be the favorite uncle,” he said, taking a bite from the bacon. “You are the only uncle,” I pointed out, and he grinned. Even though he lost his baby, he was happy for his brother. I looked at Kylie, noticing tears glistening in her eyes. They spilled out, and she wiped them, plastering a smile on her lips. “It’s just the hormones,” she mumbled. She helped me up, and I sat down on the wooden chair around the rounded table. Kylie sat next to my right, and Sam on my left. He grabbed her hands and smiled softly. “I know my brother is a jerk, but I’m happy that I would be an uncle.” “Thank you. At least someone’s happy about this baby,” she joked, and we all chuckled, trying to brush off this weird situation. Kylie had such dark humor. “Okay, let’s eat because I’m starving,” I whined, my stomach growling loudly. Sam guffawed, and I rolled my eyes, taking a toast on my plate. We ate breakfast, then I took my medicine. The therapist came around two o’clock and left after an hour and a half. During our session, Sam and Kylie were doing nothing except supporting me, along with cheering, when I walked ten steps on my own. And now Kylie was leaving. I glanced at Sam, who was watching the TV. “Don’t worry, I’ll look up for that woman. Give me a day or two,” she said, and I smiled. A car honked, and she looked at it. “This is my ride. See you later, Soph,” she mumbled, hugging me. I patted her back, and she pulled back, walking to the grey car. I closed the door and headed to the living room. “Did you overhear our conversation?” I questioned. His eyes snapped at me. The look on his face gave it away. I knew he heard us when he was in the kitchen. “Kinda,” he answered. I got up and sat down next to him on the couch. He drew close to me. “I lost our child, but she’s bringing another life, and I’m happy for her,” he mumbled, keeping eye contact with me. His words made me happy because when I’m gone, she will have Sophia and Sam by her side. I smiled at him, and he placed his hand on my cheek, closing the gap between us and smashing his lips on mine in a quick kiss. “You have a pure heart.” the words slipped out of my mouth, making him smile. His vibrant hazel eyes staring into mine, showing his feelings off. His feelings for Sophia not me—the reality I had to get in my head. I’m not falling for him, I repeated in my mind.
