The Punishment

THE PUNISHMENT AYLA'S POV The next morning I wake up but with an empty stomach, my stomach was making noises that can put Alpha's growl to shame. I patted my stomach and said, " I will feed you soon, stop making weird noises." I got up and somehow brushed my teeth, since I woke up early this morning, I decided to grace my family with my presence early this morning. After I am done with my so-called morning routine. I climbed downstairs, I moved like a shadow making no sound at all. I don't want to face mama, papa and Bubba before breakfast. I do the ninja walk with the background music in my mind de ding, de ding, de ding music was playing in the back of my mind and I felt like a real-life ninja. Maybe I should drop the idea of the Olympics. I will become a detective when I grow up. I was about to reach for the refrigerator handle to open the door when a familiar hand beat me to it. I turned around to find my mother glaring at me. "Where were you last night?" She asked in a calm tone. I looked around to check if papa was around, and he was. Of course! He is the gamma of the pack, he's always early. How can I be so stupid? A dangerous amount of energy was leaking off her body. Oh boy! It feels much better when her attention is not on me. She resembles a ticking bomb at the moment. I know that I shouldn't be messing with her and I should act accordingly avoiding danger. But I know she can't even touch me with papa being around. Should I push her buttons? "No" my mind screamed at me. But I have a habit of inviting trouble wherever I go. "Good morning mommy," I greet her while grinning innocently. A thundering growl erupts from her chest sending chills down my spine but I stood my ground, showing her that I wasn't affected. "Maybe it wasn't such a good idea. Maybe I shouldn't have pushed her buttons. But I was born stupid." I gulped, " What's wrong mommy? I just came back from upstairs." "Where were you last night?" "Umm....umm, bubba kicked me out." "That's not what I am asking. Where'd you go afterwards?" "I....I..um, out." That's all I managed to say. Her glare heats up, even more, digging holes into my little body. "You crossed the borders? What are you, stupid?" "I didn't do it intentionally. It was a mistake. It was too dark." I whined. "Baby come here," Papa cooed, his voice filled with nothing but love. I didn't waste my time reaching him. At this moment anywhere was better than being in front of her. He lifted me and made me sit on his lap. I was debating in my mind whether I should fake a sob or pretend to cry. But, that will be too much, so I decided against it. "Baby what happened last night, tell me everything. If it's Cole's mistake then he will be punished, but if it's yours then you will be punished." This was the best quality of my father, I knew I was his favourite, but when it comes to teaching a lesson he would never be biased. So I told him everything, how he humiliated me and then didn't share his cake. I told him about the fight and crossing the border. But I didn't tell him about the dark forest and my new friend. Because I knew he wouldn't let me go there again. This is the first time in my life, that I made a friend, I have to keep him a secret. I can't even tell my teddy bear about it. Papa was angry, but I wasn't sure if that anger was directed towards me or bubba. Hopefully, it's bubba. "Anna, please call Cole here." Yes! I think someone is going to get punished. Serves him right! The devil in me was laughing and my insides were turning into a mush with all the happiness. "Baby, you hungry?" Papa asked. I gave him a big nod. I should skip my normal breakfast and switch it to popcorn with lots of butter today. He feeds me breakfast from his plate and prepared another big plate for me. When Bubba came with mommy still in his sleepy state. My father made me sit on the other chair and crossed his arms. I was trying to control my laugh, but my lips were twitching too much so, I covered them with my left hand and continued eating with the right one. As the silence begins to fall, I could see the frustration creep its way to his face as he rubs it and looks at him. "Cole stone, how was last night's party?" "Yeah, it was good." He answered in a haze. "I am sure it was, after all, all of your friends were invited." He nodded. "So tell me how it felt after you kicked your little sister out of her own house on a chilling winter night? And also enlighten me how it felt when you humiliated her in front of your friends." His body suddenly became stiff, all the confusion and sleep evaporated from his face replaced by only one emotion fear, fear of what was going to happen? It actually sounds bad when papa put it that way. "If you're so strong then go get ready you're coming with me today for training, I will show you what's a real fight look like, what it feels like to be humiliated." "But pap-" "No, you are going to go back to your room this instant and get ready." His voice boomed. Oh goody, I still don't feel bad. I am such an evil person, I shouldn't make fun of my own brother. 'And yet you're still doing it.' My mind retorted. Bad Ayla, very bad! My brain mocked. It's time to be a good girl. "Papa, let him be, He's older than me, but he's still not mature enough. I think it will take him another twenty birthdays to reach my level of maturity. I will teach him. Don't worry." I said. "No, Ayla. You will get your punishment later, but let me deal with your brother first." "Okay." Wait, what?! "My punishment!" "Baby girl you are not allowed to use your new colours and colouring book for this month. And also you are grounded on Sundays." "Papa, but we make friends on Sundays, we don't fight on Sundays. You made these rules." "You are allowed to make friends on Sundays, it's just that you can only do that while staying at home." I pouted. But he didn't listen to my pleas. Sometimes he can be really cruel? 'My beautiful colours, they've done nothing wrong.' I thought. "But Papa, how's it my fault? He should be punished. He's responsible for all of this." I pointed towards my brother who was glaring at me. "You spoiled his cake and you also crossed the pack border, you knew that it could have been dangerous, how can you be so reckless, Ayla?" Oh! Dammit, he had a point there. "Fine." I huffed and crossed my arms. "But then Bubba's punishment should also be extended to one month." "Fair enough." He nodded. That's better, now I can spend my time at home in peace. "What?!" Mommy and Bubba exclaimed in unison. See, I told you. I should've prepared the popcorn. I will check the recipe on YouTube. "She's right, Cole's punishment should be extended to one month too." "But he's only ten years old. How can you make him train with the boys much older and skilled than him?" Mommy debated, which didn't come as a surprise to me. She always sides with Bubba. "He should have thought about that when he was fighting his younger sister? She didn't back down from a fight neither I expect this from him. If he survives today that is his luck, if he didn't then he will learn his lesson as to why we should only pick a fight with someone of our size. He's the future gamma of this pack, I don't expect this behaviour from him." Mommy had no answer to that remark. And ladies and gentlemen I hereby declare the winner of this debate competition. 'And that is the one and only, our very own Ryker stone. Drum roll, please!!' My mind shouted and my evil side was dancing in victory. Sometimes I feel as if there's a part of me that's overdramatic. At least I got justice. Oh crap! I totally forgot about my new friends. I was supposed to meet him today. What am I going to do now?
