Run Away

Ch 23

Bucky and Micky were by the railing of the ferry towards the statue of liberty. Bucky was staring at the port that was only about 20 yards away from them

Bucky looked around for a blonde head, but he couldn't find it

"What are you looking for, sarge?" A girl said smiling up at him. Bucky smiled down at her

"Just a friend, sis. I though Steve'll want to say goodbye" Bucky said

"Well, we are saying goodbye to you. You better be back before I graduate" the girl said

"Of course. I need to scare away your boyfriend" the girl chuckled and a man and a woman came and hugged him

"Be safe, James" the woman said

"I'll be, ma" he said

"Give those Nazis hell" his father said

"I will, pa"

The soldiers were called to board the ship and they had to leave

"We'll wait for you, Jimmy!" His siblings yelled while he waved goodbye at his family like the other soldiers

"What are you thinking about?" Micky asked snapping him out from his memory

"When I was shipped to London. My family came and said goodbye but Steve wasn't here. Later I found out he had gone to Camp Leight to become a super soldier" Bucky explained

"He was recruited while being in the Stark Expo you took him to. He probably wouldn't have been even giving the opportunity if it wasn't for you" Micky said remembering what she had read

"I didn't want him to be in the army. I wanted him safe" Bucky said looking down

"Well, he's kind of immortal now. Like you" Micky said "I think everything happens for a reason, maybe you both were meant to be here, in this time, I mean, if it weren't for him, you'd still be brainwashed and in assassin mode forever. And well, I guess he needs you to have something from his past. You need each other"

"I suppose" Bucky muttered

They then passed in front of the statue. Many people started taking pictures

"The statue represent Liberta, a roman goddess. It was built by Gustave Eiffel. It was a gift from France" Bucky said, he looked down at Micky only to see her looking up at him with a wide grin "What?"

"I never thought you to be a history nerd" she teased. Bucky grinned

"I was amazing at school when I was a kid, a great athlet too" Bucky said

"You could teach me a thing or too" Micky said and took out her phone "Now a picture" She stood closer to Bucky with their backs to the statue, her phone ready to take a selfie "Smile" Bucky smiled and Micky snapped a picture. Micky looked at it and inspected it "Perfect"

They continue smiling and looking around. That is until Bucky saw a falimiar blond with a man with dark skin color. Bucky instantly turned away

"What is it?" Micky asked catching his change of behavior

"Steve is there. Steve and his friend. They've been looking for me since Washington" Bucky said. Micky looked past his shoulder and saw them, but they weren't alone. The Black Widow and Hawkeye were there too. Tony Stark and Thor were wearing caps and sunglasses, even Dr. Banner was there in disguise

"It's not just them. The avengers are here" she said seeing at them laughing at something Tony Stark had said "They are not looking for you. Looks like they are just hanging out"

"They can't see me" Bucky said

"Ok, come with me" Micky took his hand and led him away from the crowd

"Isolating yourself from the crowd is the worst way to not be noticed" Bucky said

"I know. But couples usually are left alone because it's uncomfortable to be around them" Micky explained

"Couple?" Bucky asked, his eyes widening slightly

"Just follow my lead" Micky said taking his hands and walking backwards towards the railing. Once she bumped with the railing she pulled him closer and put his hands in her waist before putting her arms around his neck

"What are you doing?" Bucky asked, his cheeks and ears getting red

"Just pay attention. Notice how people are walking away from us" Micky said. Bucky glanced around and notice people walking or looking away. He looked at Micky and smiled, she smiled back. Bucky looked around to see one of the avengers walking towards him, it was Steve's friend that had metal wings

"One of them is coming" Bucky whispered slightly scared. Mikeyla looked too and noticed him

"Keep looking at me, he might walk away" Micky whispered back. But he kept walking directly towards them

"He keeps walking towards us" Bucky said

"Kiss me" she said

"What?" Bucky asked confused

"He'll really believe we're just some normal couple and he'll lose interest on us" Micky explained

Bucky hesitated, but Mikeyla pulled him into a kiss, Bucky started kissing back after a second, he was being as gentle as he could. Micky had to stand on her toes to reach him but she didn't care. Mikeyla's lips were soft and tasted like the chocolate she had eaten. Bucky's lips were soft too and tasted like coffee. There was no tounge in the kiss but it was still intense. They pulled away and stared into each other's eyes for some second, Micky then glanced around

"He left" she said, Bucky glanced around too

"Yeah" he agreed

They hadn't notice but they were back to the port, people started crowding away. Micky smiled up at Bucky

"Let's find a place to eat" she said, Bucky nodded still dazed about the kiss

Micky had let Bucky choose and they ended up eating in a Diner in Brooklyn. They asked for hamburgers and fries, Bucky had a chocolate milkshake and Micky had a coke. Things weren't awkward between them, they continued being the same, but Bucky couldn't help but think about the kiss. He had liked it, he liked having Micky so close, he also liked kissing her, being with her. He remembered how he felt about Derek when he visited, he wanted Micky to himself, but then again he thought he didn't deserve her, she was too good for him. Micky had also liked the kiss, she cared a lot about Bucky, but she didn't want to take advantage of him, maybe he would get attached only because she helped him, she didn't want him to feel forced to have feelings for her

They started walking back to the apartment, they were a couple of blocks away when it started to rain. Mikeyla giggled as they ran in front of a*****e to not get wet. Bucky couldn't help but chuckle too

"Of course it had to rain right now" Micky said

"Damn, it's really pouring" Bucky said "I bet it's a thunderstorm" just then a thunder sounded and he turned to Micky with a smirk "told ya"

"I hate storms. Specially thunderstorms. I was afraid of thunders when I was little" she explained

"You're not scared anymore?" Bucky asked

"A little but I've leant to face my fears" she said. They ran to under a tent-like ceiling of a Flowers store "still scary, though"

"I'll protect you" Bucky said with a smirk holding her hand. Micky smiled back

"Why, thank you, kind sir" she said jokingly

"You're very welcome, doll" Bucky said

She giggled. Bucky looked at her with a smile, she was so perfect, he decided he had to let her know how he felt, he was scared but he felt really brave just then. He put a finger under her chin making her look up before pressing his lips against hers, Mikeyla closed her eyes and kissed back. The kiss didn't last long, but Bucky took his time to pull apart

"There are no avengers around" Mikeyla said with barely any breath

"I know" Bucky said just as breathless. Micky smiled and kissed him, this time she put her arms around his neck and Bucky pulled her closer, hugging her waist. They both smiled under the kiss, and that's when they knew they shared the same feeling towards each other.
