The piercing sound of Su-mi's alarm shattered the silence of the morning, pulling her from the depths of sleep.
Blinking against the sunlight streaming through the window, she groggily reached over to silence the noise. Before she could fully awaken, a knock on her door startled her.
"It's time for breakfast" Her mother's voice called through the door, laced with an artificial sweetness that made Su-mi's stomach churn.
Su-mi stared at her mother strangely, the practiced smile on her face sending a shiver down her spine.
"I'll be there soon" she replied, her voice tinged with unease.
As she began her morning routine, Su-mi couldn't shake off the feeling that something bad was about to happen.
Su-mi washed her face with cold water, the sensation waking her up fully. She brushed her teeth meticulously, scrubbing away the remnants of sleep.
Combing.her hair, smoothing out any tangles with gentle strokes. Applying minimal makeup, she opted for a natural look, masking the turmoil beneath the surface.
Dressed in a simple yet elegant outfit, Su-mi took a moment to compose herself before facing the day ahead.
Her mother's voice interrupted her thoughts as she brushed her teeth meticulously. "Are you almost ready, Su-mi? Breakfast is getting cold."
As she made her way to the dining area, Su-mi's heart pounded with trepidation. The sight that greeted her sent a shiver down her spine. Her mother, father, sister, and ex-fiancée sat at the table, their expressions veiled with false warmth.
"Good morning, Su-mi," her father greeted, his voice carrying a hint of underlying tension.
Su-mi nervously smiled, trying to ignore the sinking feeling in her chest. Su-mi sat looked at the seats, and realised the only available seat was next to Ji-han.
'Great just what I wanted' Su-mi thought, rolling her eyes internally.
Ji-han leaned in, a forced smile plastered on his face as he handed her a small box. "I have something for you, Su-mi."
Curiosity mingled with dread as Su-mi opened the box, her heart dropping as she recognized the familiar glint of her engagement ring. "Ji-han, what..."
"I wanted to return this to you," Ji-han interrupted, his tone icy. "I don't need it anymore."
Da-won's actions only added to the pain as she handed Su-mi a long brown envelope.
With trembling hands, Su-mi opened it to reveal the word 'NDA' written on the document inside.
Her sister's sinister smile sent a chill down her spine as she handed Su-mi a pen, urging her to sign.
"What's this, Da-won?" Su-mi asked, her voice trembling with apprehension.
Da-won's smile widened, a twisted victory gleaming in her eyes. "It's just a little something to ensure you don't ruin my wedding, Noona."
With a heavy heart, Su-mi nodded silently and signed the document without a second glanced. Da-won's smile widened, a twisted victory gleaming in her eyes as she reclaimed the contract.
Su-mi drooped the pen on the table, she couldn't bear to feel so humiliated. "I think I have to go to my room."
Su-mi picked up her tray of food, she could feel their stares burning her back.
"Alright, Su-mi. Eat your veggies." Hae-ra bid her goodbye with a fake sweetness.
It sounded more has a threat to Su-mi, she shaked off the feeling and retreated to her room, the full weight of their betrayal crushing her spirit.
Su-mi couldn't bear to stay in her parents' home any longer. She knew the longer she stayed, the more sadness will eat her up.
Determined to reclaim her independence, she searched for job opportunities online, her fingers trembling with anticipation.
Her eyes widened in disbelief as she stumbled upon a job listing for a corporate executive assistant, a position she had always dreamed of. Without hesitation, she submitted her application, praying for a chance at a fresh start.
'Oh god, let me get this job and escape this hell hole'
The sound of her ring interrupted her thoughts, the caller I.d read 'Mrs. Kim '
Su-mi immediately answered the call, Mrs. Kim's sweet voice was heard from the other side.
"Mi-ah, can you help me?"
" What's wrong,Mrs. Kim? " Su-mi asked, with worry in her tone.
"Nothing, " Mrs. Kim said, giving comfort to Su-mi that nothing was wrong.
" I just need help with somethings. " Mrs. Kim added, Su-mi nodded her head.
"I hope I won't trouble you?"
Su-mi chuckled ,"I'll be there."
Su-mi ended the call, she saw it has an opportunity to escape, she slipped out of the house through the window to avoid further confrontation.

"Are you done, Mi-ah?"
Su-mi looked back at Mrs. Kim who was standing, looking at from the kitchen. Su-mi stepped down from the stool, has she sighed in contentment.
"Yes, Halemoni"
Mrs. Kim smiled, she had told Su-mi to stop calling her 'Mrs. Kim'. She was happy Su-mi had obliged with her, the past few weeks she had known Su-mi, she saw has a Grand-daughter not a stranger.
She had called Su-mi to help her with decorations, her grandsons were coming and she needed help with decorations. Mrs. Kim came out of the kitchen and stared at the 'Welcome Back, Darlings' ' banner that Su-mi had fixed on the wall infront of the entry door.
Su-mi had started working at a company that payed her well, she's the assistant manager of 'Sales Marketing' department. 'Samsung' was a company she had never expected to work, the company was owned by the richest family in Korea.
It wasn't Su-mi's dream job or company, but she loved working there. But, she knew luck was on her side.
She had traveled, met her best-friend—Felix, came back to Seoul, met Mrs. Kim, got a job at a company that people were dying for. She was going through a phase called—healing.
Her life was too perfect, it felt surreal, it had only been a matter of weeks, it takes some people years or months. It was something that she had never imagined, everyday she was waiting for when she would say the saying;
"All good things come to an end"
She was still adjusting to the weather of Seoul, Mrs. Kim had really helped with things that were new to her. She talked to felix every single day.
No one had never seen the Ceo, the Samsung family were very secretive, they controlled eighty percentage of Korea. She worked in one of their many branches in Korea, not the headquarter.
She had bought an apartment next to the street Mrs. Kim lived, she had never seen her family nor Ji-han after her parents had kicked her out.
"You did a really good job" Mrs. Kim said, has she patted Su-mi's back and went back into the kitchen. Apart from the banner, they were purple ballons everywhere, with a tray of food set on the dinning area.
Su-mi smiled to herself, she cleaned the stool and carried it to it's original position.
>Brr!
The vibration of Su-mi's phone echoed through her ears, she placed her hand in her jean pocket and brought out her phone. She groaned has she looked at her phone, it was her alarm, she looked at the header.
'TIME TO WORK!!'
"HALEMONI, I'M LEAVING!" Su-mi yelled, the alarm clock was to remind herself she had work to do. The company had giving all the workers a two-days leave, but Su-mi didn't want to rethink her life, she requested for the manager of her department to give her extra work.
Mrs. Kim came out from the kitchen in a blue apron, she was holding a groceries bag, she handed them to Su-mi. Su-mi checked the content of the bag, she saw take-out bags full of food.
Su-mi smiled, "You didn't have to do this."
Mrs. Kim rolled her eyes, "I really wanted you to meet my grandsons, but I guess duty calls."
"I'll come back." Su-mi said, has she hugged Mrs. Kim and walked out of her house. Su-mi had formed a unique bond with Mrs. Kim, she saw her has her grandmother.
She had never seen the hands of motherly love, Mrs. Kim had shown what it is to be loved.

Su-mi entered into her apartment, removing her shoes and jumping on the sofa, she was going to rest for awhile until she began working her ass off.
She turned on the television, the Netflix home screen appeared. She pressed 'Midnight Studio', Su-mi had brought a desk, files and her laptop.
>Knock!
Su-mi's ears perked up at the knocking noise, she closed her laptop and reduced the volume of her television has she went to the door and opened it thinking it was a delivery.
Her face turned pale, shock written all over her face, her mouth wide open. The person she had never expected to see was staring at her, standing infront of her door.
'How the did he get here?'
