We finally got to the Capital. It was like heaven on earth. I'd never seen anywhere as beautiful as this place.
“We should stick close together. News about you has spread this far and I'm sure everyone is eager to cash in on that bounty placed on you.”
My eyes widened.
“Bounty? Who placed a bounty on my head?!"
I could see the prying eyes of people on us as we walked past.
“Who placed a bounty on my head, Rowan?”
I immediately grabbed his hand and held on to it tightly like he was going to shield me from their stares.
“The Council. When you failed to show up, they placed a bounty on you. That was when I decided to bring you.”
These people meant business. Only important officials were allowed to be in the capital. Or if you had important business.
