I didn't say anything to Rowan. I was just trying to process what I heard.
“Is that why you're scared?”
He turned his head sharply to me and laughed.
“You have to be joking right? I'm an Alpha, I can't be scared. I'm just worried."
I went to sit beside him and I placed my hand on his shoulder.
“Worried about what?”
“Before you came into my life, I didn't care. I knew they couldn't harm me. I knew that I didn't value anyone enough to feel hurt if they were hurt so I didn't mind. I just kept hurting other people. Now you're here and I'm scared of what they'll do if they find out about you. They won't hesitate to use you against me.”
