The Battle of the Bands was held at our local venue. It had the capacity to hold 900 people and had a kick-ass PA system. All the Aussie touring bands played there. It was really cool. We’d heard our name on the radio; we’d seen our name in the press and on posters around the area. We had one chance to save ourselves from our sanity. Our third and final attempt. We all had been asking venue managers and band bookers to play in this venue for nearly two years. We were refused every time due to our age, and being at Catholic school had a so-called stigma attached to it. Little did they know we weren’t all good Catholic boys and girls and weren’t very religious.
