Surprisingly, accommodation was simple for Harry and Patrick to locate. It was just a case of riding around the settlement until they agreed upon the house that appealed to them most. Typically, signs on display read:-

The house they chose was old but comfortable, with a lounge and fireplace and a well-appointed kitchen with a wood-burning oven. There were also separate bedrooms, both with curtained windows overlooking most of the settlement and importantly, provided a commanding view of both tracks leading into it. A covered verandah surrounded the cottage on three sides and a table and two old wicker chairs were strategically placed adjacent to the front door.
