BENJAMIN BIDOE In the bustling headquarters of Brown Enterprises, the early morning sun had just begun to cast its golden rays, illuminating the office space which was gradually filling with the chatter of staff settling in for the day's work. Employees buzzed around, their energy palpable, infused with the anticipation of a new day. In the midst of this, Benjamin Biden, the Managing director of Brown Enterprises and also the son of the esteemed billionaire Mr. Brown, walked into the company premises. As soon as he entered, the chitchats quickly died down and everyone scrambled to their workplace. Mr Biden was a no-nonsense man and nobody was ready to fall prey to his temper. Just last week, he had fired one of the administrative staff due to persistent breaches of company policies and negligence of duty, and had also informed everyone that he wouldn't hesitate to sack anyone lacking in professionalism as he wanted only the best in his team. Lisa, his Personal Assistant, quickly walked up to him and collected his briefcase. “What do we have today, Lisa” "Good morning, Mr. Biden. Nothing has been fixed yet, but your father mentioned he'd like to see you this morning," Lisa informed, her tone professional yet warm. He arched an eyebrow in curiosity. "Anything specific mentioned?”, he inquired. "He didn't specify, sir," Lisa replied. "Very well. I'll head to his office by 10. My regular cup of coffee please”, he said as he entered his office. He sat down and his mind raced to reasons why his father would want to see him that morning. Lisa walked in with his coffee and he took a moment to gaze at her and appreciate her beauty. Lisa was a gorgeous, sexy woman and he had found it hard to resist her since she started working for him. Memories of their encounter last night flooded his mind. The passionate s*x they had and the feel of her soft, silky skin as they cuddled. He couldn't seem to get her off his mind. Their connection had always been discreet, a flame flickering in the shadows. It still surprised him how she was able to maintain professionalism amidst what they had going on outside. She was the reason why he was late this mornijg but she still managed to get to work before him. He still remembered how his colleagues warned him about having a sexy PA as that could be the end of him, but their warming fell on dead ears. This woman will be the end of me, he thought to himself. He winked at her and she smiled back. “Here is the coffee sir”, she said as she dropped it on the table alongside some files. “Thank you, and what are these files?” “They are from Mr. Kent. He wants you to review them before the meeting”. He took a sip, it had been made just exactly as he likes it, with a splash of cream and a hint of sugar. As soon as it was 11 am, he stood up, wore his coat and made his way to his father's office, a room that exude power and authority. He knocked softly on the food. “Come in”, a voice replied. "Good morning, Dad," Benjamin greeted, stepping into the office. Even though Mr. Brown was his dad, he still felt a bit of nervousness whenever he entered his office. His dad's office was quite big; it could pass for a studio apartment. A part of the room was covered with a shelf that housed the awards he had acquired over the years, glinting in the soft light that filtered through the large windows. Another part of the wall was adorned with framed certificates and photographs capturing memories of his successful career. The mahogany desk, meticulously organized, sat at the center of the room, accompanied by a plush leather chair that exuded an air of authority. The scent of aged books and fresh coffee lingered in the air. Mr. Brown looked up from his desk, a stack of papers before him. "Good morning, Ben. Please, have a seat," he replied, gesturing towards a chair. Benjamin settled into the chair, the anticipation mounting. "You mentioned you wanted to see me, Dad. Is something the matter?" Mr. Brown leaned back in his chair, his expression thoughtful. "Henry Fortex, the owner of Fortex Innovations, owes us a substantial debt. His company is struggling, and he's on the brink of losing everything." Benjamin listened intently, a serious look on his face. "What's the situation, Dad? How does this concern us?" His father continued, "Henry has proposed a rather unconventional solution. He is willing to give his daughter, Roseline, in marriage to you, to secure the survival of his company." Benjamin raised an eyebrow, processing the information. "A marriage? That's quite an unusual business proposal." Mr. Brown raised an eyebrow, considering the proposal, “what do you think?” “I'm inclined to believe taking over the company might be the more lucrative option”, Ben said. Mr. Brown nodded, a shrewd glint in his eyes. "Indeed. But it's a strategic move to protect our interests. If we accept this proposal, we won't need to collect the debt. We gain control of Fortex Innovations through this alliance." Benjamin pondered for a moment, contemplating the implications. "Is this a favorable deal, in the long run?" "I believe so," Mr. Brown replied. "Collecting the debt may be a direct and harsh approach considering as Henry has been a good business associate, but this marriage alliance secures the company's future. Roseline is Henry's only child, so either way, we retain control over Fortex Innovations. In business, one must be open to unconventional strategies to succeed." Benjamin sighed, understanding the gravity of the situation. "Very well, Dad. If this is the best course of action for the company, then let's proceed accordingly." His father nodded, appreciating his son's understanding. "Thank you, Benjamin. I knew I could count on you to grasp the bigger picture." As Benjamin left the office, he couldn't help but feel the weight of the decision he had just made. It was a business move, a strategic chess piece on the board of corporate dynamics. Yet, he couldn't ignore the human element involved, the lives and emotions intertwined in this elaborate game. How would Roseline feel about this? He wasn't ready to get married but he dared not disagree with his father else he lost his job. Benjamin made his way to his workspace, a downcast look on his face. “ What is the matter?”, Lisa asked, a concerned look on her face. He was about to tell her what his father said but then he thiught better of it. Now wouldn't be the best time to break such news as he did not want to spoil her moodat work. “It's nothing serious”, he said as he pecked her on the cheek. “I will talk about it later at night,”.
