I turned into the gravel parking lot, the night lit up with the headlights of other party goers arriving. The crowd was pumped up having win the first game against Mayfield High School. Elio threw the winning touchdown and I just know Cole was somewhere out there punching the air right about now.  I don't get why they even try. Elio can run circles around him and he wouldn't even break a sweat.  It took much convincing Ayla to go to Jared's party with us given that Cole was team captain of the rival team. But the fact that the pair had an argument the night before helped coax her into conceding with a final word saying, "What the hell. Worst comes to worst, I'll just tell him you forced me into the car." That would go so fuckin' well.  Elio's truck pulled up beside mine the same time
