Warren breathes out and his body relaxes. It’s only then that I realize he wasn’t meeting my eyes but rather looking to see if he could spot any injury. I walk towards the steps again and take them down one at a time until we are standing eye level to each other. “I’m sorry.” Warren blurts out taking a step back from me, “For everything. I should have just minded my business. So, I’m sorry, Vanessa. Friends?” He asks, sticking his hand out. I look down at his outstretched hand to find my favorite coffee. A small smile tugs at my lips and a flutter comes to my heart cooling a bit of the irritation there.
