She leaned over and let her arms hang down, fingertips brushing the floor. Tess hung there for a few minutes, letting gravity stretch her muscles. Once the knot in her lower back loosened, she stood up, walked to her desk then sat down. Her e-mail inbox was open on the computer and she did a double take. Three hundred? How could she have over three hundred e-mails? Did she even know that many people? Getting even twenty e-mails in a day was a rare occurrence. Tess scanned through the subject lines of the messages and wondered when everyone had lost their minds. A banging on the front door made her jump and was a welcome distraction from the implications of the world’s sudden need to communicate with her. She got up and went to the front door.
