My job was made a lot easier after I appointed Ella and Spencer to their positions. Two weeks had passed in a blink of an eye and it was time for Spencer to leave to represent me at the council meeting with the other alphas.
"Morning alpha, you called for me," Spencer said entering my office.
"Yes, and good morning to you too. Before you leave we have some business to discuss. As you now know, I am the regions first and most possible last female alpha. I have not been attending the council meetings because the council is concerned about some of the alphas not being very understanding when they learn I am a female. Please keep my identity secret. To them I am alpha Mordeca. It is your job to insure it stays that way. We are still a small pack and I do not need a bunch of arrogant alphas raging war on us. We will most definitely not survive. I only need you to attend the meeting and report back to me when you return home, "I finished speaking and signed a form.
" Yes alpha. I will ensure you are not discovered and will return home as soon as possible, "he replied calmly.
" Perfect! Have a safe trip Spencer. "
" Thank you alpha, "he bowed his head and left.
SPENCER'S POV
The drive was long and very tiresome. When I arrived, the smell of alphas were overbearing and very intimidating. I checked in and went to my room as I was informed that the meeting would be rescheduled to tomorrow because of one of the alpha being late if the meeting was held today.
I mindlinked my alpha and mate informing them that I would return home a day later than originally planned.
After the room service came, I ate and went to bed early. The next morning I got up and took a shower to get ready for the meeting. After I got dressed I went down to the conference room where the meeting would take place.
As I entered there were about fifty seats prepared around a big table. As I walked closer to the table, I noticed each chair had a name card assigned. I searched for the seat named "Alpha Mordeca" and I took my seat. I greeted the council members that entered the conference room. A few minutes passed and the alphas started entering the room and taking their seats.
"Hi, my name is Alpha Jack," the alpha next to me greeted in a friendly manner.
" I'm Spencer, "I replied.
" You do not smell like a alpha, you are a beta,"he said staring at me.
" Yes, " I said.
" Where is your alpha, "Jack asked leaning closer to me.
I leaned away from him." He was unable to attend, " I quickly answered hoping he would stop asking questions.
" Mmm, okay. You know, my ex mate is from your pack. Her name is Alcina. You know her? " he asked with a curious look on his face.
I only shook my head and looked down at my hands trying to avoid him. We sat in silence for a few minutes until the last alpha arrived. When he entered the room, everyone fell silent staring at him. He was probably seven feet tall and his arms were covered in tattoos. He was built like a bloody block. He even looked evil.
After he took his seat, the council members started the meeting. When we were done I gathered up my belongings as I rushed home, because the news I have just received were not what anyone was expecting. Even the evil giant looked concerned.
ALCINA'S POV
Spencer arrived home and rushed into my office out of breath.
"Alpha alpha! They are coming. We need to prepare. We need....."
I quickly interrupted him. "Spencer, stop. Take a breath and sit down. What is wrong?" I asked him calmly waiting for him to catch his breath.
"The rogues near our territory is planning an attack, and the council's inside information thinks our pack is next. Their Intel said that the rogues will attack within three days. We need to get ready," he said catching his breath.
I mindlinked Ella. She came to my office almost immediately.
" Ella, Spencer, ready all of the warriors and double the border patrols. We need to be ready for when they come. I will use a spell to try and shield us from them but they also have witches. It will not take them long to find us. Be ready and inform me when they arrive," I ordered.
" Yes alpha, "they said in unison and left my office to prepare.
I got on my phone and called one of the council members.
" Asmodeus, how are you? I hear I have trouble coming my way, " I spoke after he answered.
" Alcina, I am so sorry. We only got the news a day before the meeting," he explained.
"You could have called to warn me. Then maby we would have had more time to prepare," I started to feel irritated.
"You know that is against the rules alpha Alcina. We cannot break the rules," he said in a whisper.
I stayed quiet for a few seconds.
"How many, Asmodeus?" I asked concerned.
"My Intel said about five thousand rogue warriors," he said quietly.
I did not say anything. I put the phone down and headed outside to help the warriors prepare.
The wolves that were not warriors were moved underground for safety and the rest of us waited. I could see the fear in the warriors eyes. The worry they felt deep inside of their hearts.
"This is not the end. I know what we are about to face, scares you almost to death. I will be a liar if I said I were not afraid as well, but this is our home and we need to protect it as best we can. I know we do not even surpass half their numbers but we have each other. Defend each other and work together and I promise the outcome will be better than nothing, "they all fell silent and suddenly started cheering. They were scared but they were ready, and so was I.
Let them come...
