After the attack I started planning on how I could make my pack bigger and stronger. The stronger was not the part that was eating me up, but the bigger was my main problem. Your pack grew according to how quick your pack members would find mates or if people we interested in joining your pack. The problem with my pack was the fact that it was not that well known by other people as it was a small pack. So, I would have to find people to join my pack to gain more members and more power.
Two weeks after the battle had taken place I called for a meeting with Spencer and Ella to devise a plan to gain more members for the pack.
"Good morning guys, so I called you here this early because we have to work on a plan to get more people to join our pack, because we will definitely not survive another attack," I sighed.
"Alpha what if we held a mating ball, inviting all of our neighbouring packs to join. I have heard rumours that some of the other packs are planning the same," Ella said hopefull.
"That is certantly not a bad idea but what do we do when someone wants to meet or speak to alpha Mordeca?" I asked staring at my beta and gamma waiting for an answer.
They both stayed silent for a few seconds until Spencer spoke up.
"What if we find rogues? The good ones that are suffering? The ones that have tried entering other packs but was not given access because they are rogue?"
I looked at Spencer and started thinking. It would be dangerous and very risky. We would surrely run into trouble with feral rogues along the way. Could I really give Spencer such a burden? Would he succeed? Would he really be willing to go away from his home and mate to do this for his pack?
"Ella, what do you think?" I asked Ella, waiting patiently.
"I...I do not know alpha,it will be very dangerous. Who would you send on this important mission if you decide to proceed with his plan?" she asked me looking a little nervous.
"I can only trust Spencer with a task like this Ella," I said calmly.
She stayed quiet for a while only staring at her hands in her lap, not really knowing what to say.
"I will go with him. I can help to recruit members for our pack,"she spoke up.
"Ella, you are my gamma, I need you here. You cannot leave with Spencer if he is to return with a great number of wolves. We should prepare housing, job placements, school for the little ones. Most importantly the interviews we would have to do before we allow them into the pack. I will need your help with everything," I said with a firm voice.
Spencer looked at me and then to Ella. "She is right Ella. You need to prepare for us. I will not be returning empty handed," he smiled at her and hugged her lovingly.
Ella only looked at me and nodded with a small sad smile. We discussed everything that would have to be done while Spencer was away. He decided on twelve warriors that would accompany him on the journey while he traveled. We also discsussed where he would go to retreve the rogues. Everything was coming together surely but slowly.
Spencer left three days after everything was finalized to ensure that nothing would go wrong.
ELLA'S POV
As Spencer was leaving it felt like a piece of my heart was leaving with him, but I knew he had to do this. It was to make the pack stronger and I knew he would return.
After he left I went to the hospital to arrange with the doctors that each new member that arrives has to have a full body workup. Some rogues live in very bad conditions and can carry some nasty deseases. Especially the little children.
"Morning doctor, is everything set up and ready for when Spencer returns with the new members?"
"Yes gamma Ella, we are almost done. We set up some tents behind the hospital with a quarantine to do all the tests before they will be alowed to the next checkpoint."
"Good, how will you get them to the hospital without exposing them to other wolves that is not hospital staff?"
"The alpa has arranged for two vans to be delivered to the hospital this afternoon. We will pick them up in them and transport them here for evaluation,"
"Thank you docter. Please let me know if you need anything," I left heading to the next checkpoint to check if they were ready. Just incase Spencer came home faster.
The next checpoint was the interviews. Nothing serious, just backround questions like if they had more family, if they came from a previous pack. If they did,why they were thrown out and so on.
When I arrived the alpha was there speaking to one of the wolves running the second checkpoint.
"Alpha,I thought you were in your office. You said you were going to skip the inspections. That is why you sent me,"I said friendly.
"I actually came looking for you Ella, I just wanted to see how everything was going," she said looking like she was waiting for me to answer.
"I just came from the medical checkpoint and everything is ready. They are only waiting for the vans to be delivered and then they will be up and running," I said positive.
The alpha and I left the second checkpoint after we confirmed everthing was up and running. We went to the third checkpoint where the new wolves would be allocated to their jobs and the children would be entered into school programs. There was a little shortage of staff but the alpha quickly sorted it out.
She called her mother, the previous Luna to assist with allocating jobs. Yara was happy to help,as that was also her job before Alpha Alcina took over the pack.
When that was sorted we left for the last and final checkpoint.
The last checkpoint was an absolute mess. The housing process. The pack did not have alot of open houses as we did not get new members as often as we would like.
We arranged that the new members would stay in the packhouse for the first while until the new housing development was finished. There would be enough housing for a thousand more members after the development was finished.
The alpha called it a day when the afternoon came and said she had to call the council so I could go home. I arrived to my floor and made myself a small dinner.
After I ate I got in the shower and watched a movie afterwards. When I checked the time it was already nine in the evening so I went to bed earlier than most nights.
ALCINA'S POV
I was very impressed with Ella and all of the work she had done today. I knew she had a hard time after her mate left but she continued with her head high.
When I came to my office I tried calling Spencer but he was not answering so I assumed he was busy. When I could not reach him I called the council requesting more territory for the new development. They told me that bringing rogues into my pack was a big risk but said they would arrange for more territory in my name.
I did some more work and went through some of the finances. I could never understand how time flew so fast when I was doing paperwork. I hated doing it but knew it had to be done. I finished and closed my office, went to my floor, showered and got into bed and fell into a deep sleep.
SPENCER'S POV
We arrived at the border of the pack where Yara and Aiofe was taken. We stepped onto the rogues territory very aware of our surroundings. Making sure that we paid attention so that we would not be ambushed. The territory streched over a big part of the landscape around us and we went in depper and deeper until we saw the rogues. Their houses were falling apart and they were starving. They were in very bad condition. There were probably four thousand rogues living there. When they saw us they hid.
"We mean no harm. We only want to speak with you. Who is your leader?" I asked with a firm voice.
A woman slowly approached me. She did not come too close as I could see she was afraid.
She looked down at her feet and started speaking with a stuttering voice. "W..We do not have a leader. That is why we are dying,"
She turned around and walked away still looking at her feet.
I looked at all of them and cleared my voice,"I do not know what all of you have been through. I do not think I would ever be able to put myself in your shoes. Today I am here with the promise of a future, hope and a new beginning. A new life. My alpha is offering you refuge. A safe place where there is no suffering. When you pass the evaluations then you would become part of a pack,a family and stability. As long as you will be able to contribute to making the pack better. I will be on the north side of your border. If you wish to leave with me and my warriors to ensure a better future for yourself and your family then you can meet me tomorrow morning at 10am. We leave at 11am sharp," I turned around and walked away with the warriors.
The next morning we all got up bright and early. Made some food and waited. At 10, no one had came. By 11 no one came so we decided to start packing up. The alpha said we should leave if they did not come at the arranged time. We were about to get into the cars when we heard rustling in the woods. That is when I could smell them. Thousands of wolves emerged from the forrest and I was shocked at their large numbers. We all looked at each other probably wondering the same thing...
Where were they all hiding?
