OSCAR SQUINTED HIS EYES as he adjusted to the bright surroundings. The air smelled like disinfectant and bleach. There was also a beeping sound resonating against the walls. He felt a tiny prick on his left hand as he tried to move his body. He wanted to sit down, but he couldn’t. It was as if a boulder was placed on top of his chest, and the sore muscles he had were evidence of the situation. "Help… Help!" he repeatedly yelled, hoping for someone to come to him. "Calm down. I’m glad you’re awake." It was when Ivan spoke from the chair next to his bed and leaned closer to him. There were dark circles under his tired eyes. His boyfriend looked fatigued all over.
