Chapter Two

Katherine POV The prison still smells the same, the same stale stick smell. I am sitting on the cold floor, my head free from the chain The Alpha has granted me this request after my father made sure that he was not going to welcome a murderer into his house. What a fancy way to say I never loved you My hands grace the floor, it's almost midnight. At midnight I would be leaving here. The clock ticks, each minute counting to my almost death wish. I run my hands through my greasy hair. I don't even remember the last time I saw those packs I had only seen it in books, their stories told to me like some bedtime stories. I don't even know my way down there. How the hell was I going to get there, get past the guards and finally meet him? The gate creaked open, his smell filled the room..I didn't look up from the ground. I already know who it is. Cain. “You are not going with me” I blurted out immediately. He ignores me and takes a seat beside me, but for a moment he does not move then he takes my hands gently. Tears burn at the back of my eyes. Why did he have to love me? He would have just seen me like the others. Worthless. It would make dying much easier. “Look at me Katherine,” he says, his voice calm, soft. “Please” I turn to look at him, keeping my tears behind my eyes. He takes in a deep breath, moves closer, and fits my face “I thought I had lost you. You…” he paused and swallowed hard “You looked so ready to die” I pull away from his grip “It would have been better. At least I would have been with my mum and you would not have had to sacrifice your life for me. You are not going with me and that is final. Your brother would kill me if something happens to you, your mum, your brother, the pack, they need you!” “And I need you!” He snaps. “I need you, Katherine. Dong, you get it. I choose you as my mate. I chose you to be with me. I love you Katherine even though you think you are unlovable. I love you!” He pulls me closer and places a kiss on my forehead, cleaning the tears that are now rolling down my cheeks. “I would go with you, and die with you if need be. But one thing is for sure you are not going there alone” “No! I would go alone” He states to me, I glare back, and he walks, placing a knife in my hand and pressing the skin against his neck. “What are you doing?” I ask. “Kill me. Either you kill me or I go with you” I heaved a sigh and dropped the knife. He is far too stubborn to listen to me. He heaved a sigh before bringing out a paper. He rolls it on the ground, bringing the fire closer. “This is the Vale pack” he says pointing at the map “We would go in through here and pass. They have an inner hole at the end of the pack where we would pass. On getting there, I would spray this” -he drops a powder nearby. “It's a powder that weakens the wolves, we would get inside and we have just thirty minutes to kill whomever we want to. Is that okay?” He asked. A smile laces my face as I stare at him. He just made my whole life easier. “Yes” At twelve, the guards opened the door for me. He meets me at the pack boundaries with food, new clothes that are scented with a vale scent, and some knives. …… ……. …….. …….. …….. …. The vale pack met the whole description we have been told. A pack guarded with great thick tall walls, it has two fences around it, built with their hands and heavy as hell. Around the pack you could see some guards walking around with guns in their hands, their eyes shining through the night “Are we ever going to get in?” I asked Cain. This seemed like an impossible mission. Cain nods and whispers back “Yes” We lay there, in the bush waiting for a good time. And then a huge van drives past carrying garments. “Follow me” Cain whispered, we tiptoed into the back of the van and then climbed onto the top to ensure that no one saw us. We lay there for a bike and after some time the gates opened as the truck drove in. Immediately we got in, we rolled off, hitting our backs on the floor. With our garnet scenes with the Vale pack, they did not know we were strangers. “You too. Take it to the palace. We would need these garnets in preparing for the wedding next week” “Yes sir”. Cain and I answered in unison. We cracked the roll of garnets on our shoulders together with other people. They opened the gates for us and led us to the storage room. Immediately we were sure everyone had entered, Cain spied the powder. At feisty noting walked but little by little they all fell asleep. “Remember our plan okay? And call me if you need anything?” He whispered. “Okay” With that, we both went our separate ways. I trailed around the place with the little powder he had given me watching as the guards fell asleep. Some left the place for a more comfortable bed. Immediately I was sure the coast was clear, so I walked into the first room. “Theresa” was boldly written at the tip of the room. I clocked the door open, and surprisingly it opened. This is strange. The royals always locked their door. I tiptoed inside with my sword ready to kill Theresa, and closed the door behind me. The room was fully pink, grim the library stood against the , painted walls to the bed covers Everything. I tiptoed to the bed, she was still sleeping or so I thought I slowly opened the blankets. Goosebumps filled my skin.. Theresa lay on the bed, soaked in her own blood like she was hurt or something I touched her head, my heart dreading what would happen. The head rolled over. I placed my hands over my head to ensure that I don't scream out loud. What the hell! She was killed. That was why the door was open. Whoever did it must have done it in a hurry. Or was this not the Theresa I was meant to know? I brought out a painting of her. She looked exactly as she was in the picture. Someone had killed her even before we came. I brought out my sack and placed the head inside with a satisfactory smile on my face. Whoever did it just made my job easier. “There are intruders here!” Someone should text. Goosebumps filled my skin. I had only one. Maybe Canin had gotten the other. We had to be fast and leave here as soon as we could I tiptoed out of the room and rushed towards the exit, just where Cain had asked me to wait for him. What if they had caught him? Block the exit!” One of them screamed. Oh my God. They would be coming here. Without thinking I ran away from the place toward the other direction, panting heavily. One of the guests saw me as I ran through the top corridor. “Catch her. We already have one” My knees are sore. Were they talking about Cain Please moon goddess please just don't let this happen. I dated for the other direction, running past the doors they were now after me. I slammed the door next door against myself and locked it, panting heavily. The room had no light, pitch-black. I slid down the walls slowly and heaved a sigh of relief. They are past the door. My heart raced “Please, moon goddess. Please let Cain be alive. I love him more than anything" I pleaded. “How foolish of your Alpha to send two loves to kill me” a deep heavy voice said beside me. I made a move to move. A big mistake. He pressed a cold metal blade against my neck. He turned on the lamp that he had turned off. He was staying before me, a white rumbled shirt, a sword pressed toward me, his eyes a mixture of red and black, his long silver hair packed upwards. My eyes widened. It was Klaus. .
