A. We get back to the firm and you are not in your office. I stare at the large analog clock on the wall in the open office all day, watching and waiting for the hour hand as it slitters closer to six pm. Lunch time comes and I look over at your office and you are not back yet. Before now, your absence would have worried me. But now I know better. I know that nothing can ever happen between us. You are never going to see me as more than the friend who would always sacrifice his happiness to make you happy. The pathetic loser who would bend his morality to accommodate the sins of a boy he feels attracted to. Six o'clock comes and I clock out. I ride the elevator down and walk into the street.
