"You're not supposed to say that, Xipher," I coldly told him.
He's now vastly amused with my reaction. We can't stop this obstacle if he will act as playful as he is right now. I don't like his way of telling me things. My heart keeps on pounding.
"What? I'm serious, Amalia," he said with his furrowed brows.
"How can that help, Xipher?" I asked him in disgust.
"If you marry me, you'll have a much higher position. Remember that I'm the Captain of the highest team, Amalia. My power will help you obtain the position in District one," he calmly said.
"You know what, I have another option," I told him.
He raised a brow and crossed his arms. He nodded slightly as he anticipated my option.
"What is it, Amalia?" he asked impatiently.
"Should I just shoot them all?" I innocently asked him.
"You're too brutal, Lieutenant. That doesn't count," he said before he stood up.
I was left sitting and just let him go. I guess he's leaving. It's good, so I can think straight. He can only give me a heart attack.
"Are you leaving?" I changed the subject.
"Why? Do you want me to stay?" he playfully asked me.
"Get out of here," I told him.
"Sure, I'll see you later, Lieutenant," he said as he languidly walked away.
I laid down on my bed. I just now felt tired. I closed my eyes as I tried to think about possible outcomes when I finally marry Xipher. Will he be a good husband to me?
"s**t, this is making me insane," I whispered to myself.
I shouldn't think about these bullshits. I finally felt the urge to sleep, so I did. I woke up around 7 PM. I still have to go to Headquarters.
I wore my black skirt, ending 2 inches above my knees paired with my white fitted top. I found my black boots and put them on.
I was about to leave when I remembered that I'm not wearing my cloak. I went back to the walk-in closet and looked for it.
I opened the second largest door and my numerous cloaks welcomed me. I smiled as I touched the cloak that I have now. I've been through a lot.
Lieutenant Amalia Desi Abrantes
"How I wish that I will have the greatest title after a year," I said.
I really want to have a very good title under my name. Being a Lieutenant is not easy and my experiences before I got this was not quite easy. I've been into a lot of struggles but then, I'm still asking for more.
I'm already content with what I am and what I have today. It's just that, I have another dream. It's my own way of satisfying myself. I reached my first dream and I'm still dreaming for a greater thing, right now.
"Will it be great if I'll have the title of being a legendary sniper after a year?" I whispered.
I put on the cloak and exited the unit. When I reached the ground floor, I saw some Class C agents. The others were just students. I smiled when they turned their gazes to me.
"Lieutenant, Emergency!" someone rushed and blocked my way.
He was still panting as if he had run a few miles just to get here. My brows furrowed and looked at him with full of curiosity.
"Report. What happened?" I asked him.
"I'm the movement analyst of Team Bravo. I hereby report to you, Lieutenant Abrantes that a sudden explosion from one of our buildings suddenly occurred," he said as he gave a snappy salute.
"Lead the way," I told him.
We ran fast until we came to one of our buildings that was now smoking. I almost cursed when I realized that this is my Mom's building.
"Why didn't you immediately say the Laboratory building was blown up!" I angrily asked him while still running.
"Captain's order," he replied nervously.
I started to feel the coldness in my eyes. My normal vision started to become complex. I narrowed my sight and tried to see what's happening inside. I will seriously kill the person behind this commotion.
I waved my hand to create an ice ladder. I was about to step up when I felt myself floating. I was surprised because I couldn’t float in the air. I looked back and saw Matthew behind me. He smiled and waved a bit.
"Hey, Lieutenant! Enjoy your trip using my lovely wind!" he shouted.
My heart is now beating so fast. He moved his left hand and that made me float higher. I saw him do something in his right hand. He's now controlling all of the plants around. I almost forgot that he's the great Lieutenant from Team Sierra. The manipulator of nature and wind. He's from Class B, together with Hadley.
When I got to the top I saw the panicking scientists. That's the saddest part of their existence, they don't have powers. All they have is their intelligence. They're not physically trained.
I can't get very close because the fire is in front of me. Opposite of my holding ability. I'm an ice manipulator and the presence of fire can absorb my energy.
"Lia! Can you still go near?" I heard Matthew's shout.
"Bring me closer. I need to see them closely," I shouted.
I felt like I was rising even more. I am now below the building that is almost half burning. I saw a scientist almost hit by a protruding wall.
I waved my hand to be able to build an ice shield for him. He looked at my direction and despite his distance, I can feel his deep gratitude.
"Lia, you're too low. You might forget that fire is in front of you right now," he said.
I didn't realize that he was by my side. He's also flying while his other hand is controlling the trees near the building. He's using the branches of the trees to pull everyone who's in danger.
"I can manage, Matt. Just put me in a safer spot. I need to get down to find the right one," I said as I closed my fist.
"But--"
He couldn't speak anymore because I had preceded him. This is not the right time to argue about positions.
"Just give me this favor, Lieutenant. I need to find the mastermind of this explosion. We can't sacrifice our scientists, you know that. My mother is inside that damn building," I shouted.
After a few more seconds, he gave me the favor. He lowered me to the high part of the building. Half of it is gradually degenerating.
My rifle started to appear in my hand. I saw someone running away. I can sense a great tension and panic inside him. Just by that, I'm sure that he's the culprit.
"Where are you, Xipher? You must be facing that fire!" I whispered to myself.
The man turned to the left side of the road. I could see him clearly because I was on top. He was still distracted as he ran. Is he alone? he must have been too brave to rush unaccompanied.
I smirked and made the snow glow and made it slippery. I made everything ice so he fell down a few times. I don’t know if I’ll laugh or get annoyed. I was close to him when he suddenly disappeared.
"What the hell" I cursed.
My eyes searched for him before I stepped on the icy road. I didn't even expect him to be invisible or to teleport.
I realized that I was already here opposite the Team Sierra building. My brows furrowed. Why is he missing here? I don't want to be suspicious but why am I suddenly cornered?
I was about to move away when I saw the same suspect, meters away from me. So speed is his ability. There's only one thing on my mind right now. We are definitely in the same class.
"Class A," I said to myself before I ran again to catch up with him. He suddenly disappeared because he ran so fast that I couldn't catch up with him properly.
I didn't realize that he was going to turn into the forbidden street. I almost fell because I prevented myself from stepping on the boundary. My heart is beating so fast. This street can seal our powers and abilities. Only 6th sense works here.
"My 6th sense is useless when I don't have power!" I shouted as if someone was talking.
"Are you talking to yourself, Lieutenant?" A familiar voice from behind said.
I looked at Xipher with dagger eyes. He should have been here earlier. He is the one who should be chasing the suspect.
"You're late, Captain" I told him with full of sarcasm.
"I saved my mother-in-law," he fired back.
"Whatever," I told him.
But deep inside, I'm thankful that he put mom first.
"I know you can chase the one who did it," he said and smirked.
I rolled my eyes and looked back at the dark side of this forbidden street. It's a rule that no one should enter this street.
I stepped inside and that made Xipher .
"Are you really going in, Amalia? It's the wrong and forbidden way," he curiously said.
There was no trace of resistance in his voice so why would he even ask?
"Sometimes, the wrong way can lead you to the right place, Captain," I said before I finally let myself in.
I heard his soft laughs. I was about to run but he said something again which made my heart skip a beat.
"My Lieutenant is the best."
