Chapter 10

"What was that, brother?" Alayah said with a disgusting tone. I was literally taken aback when Xipher told me that. It was a matter of seconds when I finally swallowed everything in my mind. Alayah suddenly interrupted and that made me return to my sanity. "Shut up and eat," Xipher said to his sister. Alayah just shrugged and started to eat the food in front of her. I blinked twice to finally regain myself. I want to shoot Xipher now using my rifle. He's not a good influence anymore. "Don't look at me like that, Amalia.I'm already melting," Xipher suddenly said after a few moments of silence. "I'm not looking!" I denied. He smirked and turned around. He started to cook whatever was in his mind. I remained silent on my chair while trying to calm my palpitating heart. I should ask mom if I have some heart disease or what. But then, it only happens when Xipher is around. Maybe his presence caused this? "You're actually blushing, Lia. Are you nervous?" Alayah suddenly said. I quickly faced her and looked at her wickedly. She raised a brow and didn't even mind my dangerous stare. "No way!" I hissed. She grinned widely and looked at her brother who's still busy with what she's doing. After a few seconds, she returned her gaze to me. "Really, Amalia?" she said and moved her stool closer to mine. "Tell me, are you falling in love with your Captain?" she whispered with a teasing voice. "No way! Never!" I exclaimed. My eyes widened because of that thought. I never really think about that. Falling? No way. Alayah is really full of accusations! "Your action speaks the other way around," she said and shrugged. "I told you, that will never happen," I denied. "Why are you two whispering?" Xipher interrupted. Alayah smiled and turned to her older brother. Confusion was already visible to Xipher's face. He suddenly looked at me and all I could do was look away. "We're just talking about Matthew," she said. I immediately looked at Alayah for lying. She chuckled when Xipher's brows furrowed again. We're literally talking about him but his sister was strong enough to lie. "He's under investigation. Don't even mention his name in front of me," he seriously said. "You're just jealous," Alayah said uselessly. She showed her brother a peace sign when she noticed that Xipher was already mad. I didn't realize that the beef steak he cooked was ready in front of me. "Eat, I know you're tired," he said and left us in the kitchen. I followed him with my gaze and realized that he's planning to watch some movie on my T.V. "My brother is sweet, Lia. Oh wait, scratch that, it's not the right thing to say. Take two, your fiancé is really sweet," Alayah chuckled. "Are you pushing your brother to me, Al?" I sarcastically asked her. "Why is it bad?" she innocently answered me. I just shook my head because I couldn't do anything when she's like this. I just ate until I was full. I will not deny that Xipher is really a good cook. "Not good," I suddenly heard Xipher cursed. I was about to put my plate in the sink when I heard a crack in my room. I unconsciously threw my plate to the sink. Fortunately, the landing was right. A few seconds later I heard the sound of gunfire. "What is happening?" Alayah shouted when a bullet escaped to her plate. She quickly stood up and searched for the source of the bullet. What the heck is happening? We have just recovered from a tragedy, now there is a new war? "Amalia, be sure that you're already at the rooftop after 2 minutes. Do you understand?" Xipher suddenly whispered behind me. I didn't even realize he was here. Oh gosh why do I forget their abilities? I really need to go there. I'm not good with short ranges. That's the disadvantage of being a sniper. I'm just good with long range positions. "Brother! They shot my plate! My poor steak!" Alayah cried. She was simply ranting as if a simple bullet had passed through her plate. She's more than concerned with her dinner, not even scared. "Move to your position now, Alayah. Don't provoke me to burn you into ashes," Xipher suddenly said. Alayah became serious and that moved me according to plan. I went through the back part of my unit. I have a small terrace here and I'm sure they attacked in front because they didn't think I would climb to the top just to fight them. I maneuvered my hand to create an ice rope. I quickly slid it in my hand and threw it high, and since I was in control of the rope I made, I quickly tied it. I was about to climb using my rope when I saw Xipher covering me and Alayah was still busy shooting the rebels. I could clearly see how Xipher shot the opponents mercilessly. "Sorry guys, Captain is here," I said to myself and chuckled. I climbed up and positioned myself at the far end of the rooftop. I hid slightly and looked at what was happening below. I was taken aback when I saw a lot of them. There were others going up to my unit and since the sliding window was broken, they quickly entered one by one. I called for my rifle and positioned myself. "Say goodbye to Neptune, intruders," I said before I shoot those who are planning to enter my room. Those who followed me looked around. Why are you still wondering?Who said you rushed to my unit? The two ruthless ones in there will consume you. "Amalia, on the rooftop!" shouted by one of them. How did he see me? It's too dark here! maybe it's his sixth sense. He can see in the dark. I moved quickly and moved to the other side. I need to ruin their position. I don’t know how many are they but definitely impossible for me to count. Why in my unit tho? The most uncomfortable thing is that I'm in a night dress now, it's too hard to move. I covered myself with my ice shield. It's hard, maybe later someone will try to aim for my head. "Don't be loud! She's definitely just hiding," a man disobeyed his companion. I am now hiding in the darkest part. Those who have the ability to see in the dark will not come. I chuckled when one of them pushed the other one. They are obviously scared. Before I could get out of my seat, I spotted Xipher walking behind the two intruders. I saw his pistol produce some fire bullets. Two bullets came out and landed on the backs of the heads of the two men. They also fell and lost their lives at the same time. "Rest well in the galaxy," Xipher said. I laughed softly and showed up to him. He looked at me so badly that I raised one eyebrow. I didn't do anything. "What?" I asked him. "Why aren't you careful? Look, they knew right away that you were here," he hissed. "Did I know they had someone with them who could see in the dark?" I fired back. "That's why you have to be careful. If you get scratched, I won't marry you again!" he suddenly said. "What?" I shouted. "Shall I repeat it?" he replied. "For your information, Captain, I don't care if you don't marry me. That's good," I told him. He looked at me coldly and that made me look away. "Love birds! Flirt later. We're in the middle of a fierce battle!" Alayah shouted. I didn't even notice that she's already here. I looked quickly at Xipher and stared before leaving in front. "Amalia, I'm here, look for a higher place," Alayah said. "Okay, take care," I told her before I created some ice ladder. I quickly climbed up and moved to the higher building just next to it. It's up to others if they will follow. I don't care. When I reached the other building, I immediately stood up and looked for a target. I do love long ranges so definitely, I'm a sniper. I positioned myself and tried to track the spot of the villains. One by one they were floating in the air so I didn’t know who was helping them. The limited light of the moon alone serves as light to all of us. Until now I still don't know why this is happening. I suddenly saw Matthew on the ground. My heart started to pound when I thought about something. I look back at the floating rebels. Is Matt the one helping them? Is he the same with his sister? No, not possible. I shouldn't think about that. Matthew is a good man. He can't do it. I tried to focus on my targets. They were also gradually declining because Xipher was also in the building. I'm just attacking them behind their backs. What's wrong with these people? Should we kill just for no good reason? I suddenly remembered Xipher's question to Matthew. why do we need to kill? I shot the man almost reach Alayah's foot. I realized that just like Xipher, I kill because there are people whom I wanted to protect and I want to fight for peace. I finally found out the real essence of my existence. I will forever be indulged with our rules. I will obey them and kill those who chose to disobey. I will sacrifice everything just to protect my beloved people and city.
