chapter 15: adapting

Cathy's POV
Evelyn if someone were to tell me to describe Evelyn I don't know what I would say
I have been friends with Evelyn since first grade
She is kind and sweet, she is innocent no matter how many times her stepmom and stepsister mistreated her she never held a grudge against them
I have told her so many times to just come and live with me and my family but she always refuses
I consider her my sister we promised each other will always be there for one another
But I failed I couldn't protect her when she needed me the most
Both me and Jason were so drunk and wasted we didn't even hear our phones ringing
First Ethan got drugged under our watch it was his first time at night enchantment and I'm pretty sure it must have been the worst experience for him
That day really ruined a lot of people's lives especially Evelyn
But I'm very proud of her , she bounced back pretty quickly though I can still see the pain in her eyes
We have been trying our best to not let her slip into depression but
The day I got a call from Mike informing about Evy whereabouts I was so happy that I stopped everything I was doing just to rush to her
But what welcomed me is a sight I can never forget
Evy looked like a shell she looked like no body was home all the fire in her soul had dimmed
We tried everything to snap her out of it but it would always end up with her crying
I was so heartbroken seeing my always cheerful and positive friend so broken
Evy was my first true friend I would fight anyone just for her
Me and Jason started visiting her everyday In hopes of bringing her back but nothing
Jay tried everything to cheer me up, without him and Mike I would have also fallen into depression
One day mike couldn't handle it alone anymore and told us that what caused her to be like that is because
She was freaking r***d and her so called family abandoned her
It was I was heartbroken is an understatement how,why , when, what
I had so many questions but no answer and the person who could have tried to answer is so broken
I spent most of my time crying with her I didn't know what else to do
We started consulting professional psychiatrist how to help her cope
And I was so happy when I started seeing improvement at least she no longer cried all the time
I started seeing a little trance of the old Evy little by little she is getting better
If nothing goes wrong she will be back to normal in no time at all
Right now we are at Mike's house begging Evy to go shopping with us but Evy being Evy won't agree
We have tried everything but nope she just doesn't want to move out
Me and Mike find a common love for fashion
Before knowing Mike was gay I had a pretty heated argument with Jay
When I found out the reason he was upset is because he thought mike might snatch me away from him I couldn't help but laugh at him
Okay to be honest mike is quiet hot every girl's dream guy before body height and face too but he is gay
We kept begging Evy until she got tired of listening to us and decided to just go and get some snacks
Like I said I have known Evy like forever and I know her likes and dislikes
So when she got pickles and ice cream it was so weird it was like a punch to the guts
I mean Evy hates pickles but today she is eating pickles dipped in ice cream
That's super weird
We just looked at her like we just saw a ghost
Our pleading about going out has long since flown out the window
Actually when I think about it Evy has been acting quite weird
I mean yeah she's been acting depressed but
I didn't pay much attention to it until now I really hope it's just my speculation
After a few minutes of trying to ignore our weird stares Evy couldn't take it anymore and made a deal with us
If we stop staring at her she would go shopping with us we agreed since we had no choice
We left her alone and just went and started watching her from the dining room
“She seems to really enjoy eating that” Mike says with clear disgust
“Yeah, are you thinking what I'm thinking”
“Definitely, I just don't know how she will react if it turns out to be true”
“Yeah I mean she just barely came out of depression and now this”
“Let's just hope for the best”
“But very positive it's the case, look she has even dozes off half through the movie”
Mike just shakes his head as we went outside to get some fresh air while we wait for her to wake up.

When Evy woke up we helped her get even though she ended up dozing whilst we were fixing her makeup and hair.
After we were done, we started walking but upon reaching the door Evy fainted we rushed her to the hospital
We are lucky that means Mike's condo is relatively near the hospital
Only a ten minutes drive, we have been waiting outside the ER for over half an hour.
I'm guessing there doing a full body check.
After a while were told we can enter the doctor told us Evy was pregnant when she woke up and just like that she collapsed again upon just hearing the word pregnant.
Oh this is bad really really bad I hope she doesn't do anything bad to herself
So right now we are sited waiting for Evy to wake up again.
I just hope she doesn't faint again when she wakes up.
