Kess sat on the ground, eyes wide with shock. She blinked her eyes rapidly as if to clear her vision. All she could to do was stare at the twenty or more semi-human beings standing menacingly in front of them.
They were short creatures with long jet-black hair completely covering their bodies. The hair was so thick it was impossible to make out anything but the eyes and mouth. They had two eyes, same place as humans, only they were green with bright, purple pupils. Large, green-pointed fangs showed between black lips.
Kess whispered to Kybil, “Okay, are these things bad and are we in trouble?” She watched warily while they closed in on them with their spears aimed and ready to throw.
“Yes!” he whispered back.
